Clarence Brown was struck by lightning yesterday and killed. He had been rounding up a small stack of grain and had just placed the pitch-fork in the top of it, when a bolt struck him, tearing his face and body, causing instant death. He fell upon his face and was dead when his friends, who were only a few yards away, got to him."

Lafayette Radford Palmer at one time received an old age pension from the Kit Carson County commissioners.
