Christian F. and Alice (Deibelbis) Joss, 8 South 45 West
In 1870 Brown County, Kansas, Christian is 17, with parents "Gadlove" Joss 40 and Martha 34. Roseana J. is 14, Charles W. 10, Henry A. 9, George E. 4, and John F. 2.
Alice was in Nemeha County, Kansas in 1880, 20, with Isaac 66 a retired farmer and Hannah 56. Cathryn is 37, Alice 20, Emiline 19, Selby 12, adn Joseph 12.
Allie Dreibelbis, 22, and C.F. Joss married in Brown County, Kansas on November 10, 1881.
1892 Sabetha, Kansas "C. F. Joss has now sold his
farm to Henry Sachan for 152 per acre,
The community will be sorry to part with a family that
has endeared itself in so many ways while living there.
The farm he bought as raw prairie 12 years ago is now
one of the best improved. "

In 1900 Nemaha County, Kansas, Christian is a landlord, 45, born in Ohio, Alice 40 in Ohio. Ralph Nov 1882, Mable Setp 1886, Clifford August 1895, and Ethel August 1896 wee all born in Kansas.
1908 "Now we know where Fred Joss will locate. He last week bought more than 2,000 acres of land in Shawnee county, west of Topeka. Well, he was always a good citizen and the likes of him are altogether too scarce."
1909 "The Fred Joss family are going to their city home at Topeka and
for the benefit of the children, let's look over this family of pioneers.
Grandfather Joss was a short, heavy set, sturdy, hardworking farmer and his
goodly wife is alive today. They had a number of husky boys who helped work that
beautiful farm (one of the world's finest) two miles north of Fairview.
Of these boys just one remained a farmer, that is our Fred.
One is a doctor in the east and now he is after 13 years of school
and some years of practice is going to Texas in search of health.
Frank we all knew as a wiry,
energetic young man who had a success general patronage of the people. "

1916 " Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Joss and their children, Clifford and Ethel,
have left on a motor trip to Manitou, Colo., where they will spend a month."
1919 " Miss Ethel Joss, who has been studying music in Northwestern university, has returned to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Joss. "

"C.F. Joss, 77, died today at his home, 1334 Lane street.
He was born Sept. 28, 1853, at Winesburg, O., and has been a
resident of Kansas since he was four years old. He had lived
in Topeka for the last twenty-two years. He was a retired
farmer and a member of the Congregational church.
He is survived by his widow;
two daughters, Mrs. Wistar P. Williams, Topeka;
and Mrs. James U. Nichols, Wilkes-Barre, PA;
two sons, R.L. Joss, Los Angeles, Calif.;
and Clifford Joss, Chicago;
three grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed."
Alice (Dreibelbis) Joss 1859-1948 is also buried in Topeka # 1 46549637.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wall-Diffenderfer's mortuary for Mrs. Alice Joss, wife of the late Christian Frederick Joss, who died Saturday in a local hospital. Burial was in Mount Hope Abbey.
Mrs. Joss was an aunt of Dr. C.E. Joss of Topeka.
She was born near Wooster, Waynes county, Ohio, November 15, 1859, and came with her parents to Sabetha in 1879. She was married to the late Mr. Joss in 1881. He preceded her in death in 1931. The couple came to Topeka in 1909 and lived for many years in the home they built at 1334 Lane.
Survivors are two sons, Ralph L. and Clifford V. Joss Joss of Los Angeles;
a daughter, Mrs. James U. Nichols of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Wendell H. Williams of North Hollywood, Calif., Warren R. William of Topeka and Martha Louise Nichols of Chattanooga; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Wendy Williams of North Hollywood, Calif.
A daughter, the late Mrs. Wistar P. Williams, died in 1943.
