Kit Carson County Pioneers:

Andrew T. Farley, 8 South 45 West



Sylvester Farley and Candis Barnett married in 1834 in White County, Illinois.

They had John W. Farley in 1838, who died in 1908 in buried in Abilene, Kanss # 41923943>

In 1860 Washington County, Iowa, Andrew is two months old. Sylvester is farming, 49, born in Ohio, Candace A. 44 in Indiana. John 22 born in Illinois is a laborer. Francis 17, Sarah 14, Noah 15, Lydia 8, Wm. 10, Emily 6, Marietta 4, and Andrew all born in Iowa.

In 1870 Cass County, Missouri, Sylvester is 57, farming, Candace A. 54, William 20, Lydia 18, Emily 16, and Andrew 10.

Andrew is a farm hand in 1880 Pottawattamie County, Iowa, working for William and Esther Crouch of Kentucky.
He's also listed in the Washington County, Iowa 1880 census with "Silester 69, Candes A. 64, Lydia M. 27, and Andrw 19.

In 1885 Pottawattamie County, Andrew is 24, living with brother William W. 35 and his family - Catharine 30, George 7, Frank 5, Maggie 3, and Eddie 1.

Candace Farley, born in 1816 in Kentucky, is buried in Woodbury County, Iowa # 176230289.
"Apparently, Candice or Candace, wife of Sylvester Farley. Birth date is taken from her 1900 census entry, in which she is living with her son Francis H. Farley."

Her husband is also buried in Woodbury County, # 161726955 saying "Father of F. H."

One tree said that Sylvester was born in Gallia, Ohio in 1811, and died March 16, 1900.




April 1910 "A. T. Farley is home from Denver and is now occupying his homestead."

In 1911 Andrew Farley and Charles C. Wyllys of Bethune, George Fowser and Alfred S. Wyllys of Burlington were witnesses for the claim of John E. Williams for land in 14, 8S 45W.
Andrew claimed a quarter in section 26, 8S 45W, Kit Carson County, in 1912.

June 1912 Burlington "The editor is under obligations to R. E. Farley for a dozen or so of very fine fish, some of his catch while on his recent fishing trip. Dr. and Mrs. C. A. Gillette and R. E. Farley have returned from a few days fishing trip over on the river. They brought back over 250 fish." This Farley doesn't appear to be related.

Roy Eugene Farley was born August 13, 1873 in Appanoose, Iowa, the son of John W. Farley - and so the nephew of Andrew. He married Anne Estelle Curry, and they wre living in Denver in 1920.


Andrew is a hotel clerk in 1920 Denver, single, in a rooming house.

In 1930 Andrew is a farm laborer in Chaffee County, Colorado, living alone, 69, born in Iowa.


Andrew T. Farley, 1860-1938 is buried in Denver, # 176230189.
