Kit Carson County Pioneers:
John M. Evans, 8 South 45 West
John cash-claimed a quarter in section 27, 8S 45W, Kit Carson County, in 1890.
John also cash-claimed a quarter in 29, 9S 43W in 1891.
POSSIBLY the same John Evans 1814-1897 who was
Territorial Governor, appointing John Chivington to the Colorado Volunteers,
who led the Sand Creek Massacre in 1864.

Salt Lake City 1901 "John M. Evans takes
the place of assistant auditor of the Denver
and Rio Grande Western system,
also with headquarters at Denver.
Mr. Evans and his entire staff leave for
Denver, Thursday."
1915 Fort Morgan Colorado "John M. Evans of Denver has been down looking after his interests here"
