Harry J. and Lillie (Diamond) Estle, 8 South 45 West



In 1900 Smith County, Kansas, James Estle born in Canada in July 1842 is farming, married 30 years to Lidie Feb 1850 Indiana. Lucy M. Jan 1871, John K. July 1873, Charles E. Sept 1876, and Harry J. Aug 1878 were born in Missouri, Mary E. Feb 1882, Evan A. March 1883, Ollie Jan 1886, Ira April 1890 and Anna April 1893 were born in Kansas.

(Amanda A. Wiedeman is in Washington County, Colorado in 1930, 35, with William H. 37 born in Nebraska. They have five kids born in Kansas, and Neva 1 born in Colorado.
She's buried in Canon City, Colorado 1894-1963 # 104666871, with William H. 1892-1967)

Lillie J. Diamond is also in Smith County in 1900, born Aug 1883 in Kansas. William Diamond was born May 1857 in Iowa, Salina E. Nov 1858 Wisconsin, and her father George W. McAdams born July 1821 in Pennsylvania. Earl W. Diamond 15, Roy G. 5, and Ethel E. 4 were born in Kansas.

March 18, 1909 Atwood, Kansas "George W. McAdams died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. J. Diamond at Kensington, Kansas on Mar. 10th, 1909, age 91 years, George W. McAdams was born in Summerset county, Pennsylvania in July 1817, where he grew to manhood and in 1819 was married to Mary Ann Ilammaker. In 1856 he moved with his wife to Wisconsin, where they re' sided until 1878 when they moved to Smith county, Kansas. In 1880 Mrs. McAdams departed this life and Mr. McAdams came to Rawlins county" taking a homestead on the Middle Sappa in Clinton township, where he lived until 1899, when he went to Kensington, where he has since resided making his home with his daughter.
He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Robert of Portland, Oregon, Shelden of Clintonville, Wis., William of Newsville, Wisconsin, Joe of Sherman county, Kansas and George of this county, two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Rubeson of Burlington; Colorado and Mrs. W. J. Diamond of Mr. McAdams was a good citizen and neighbor and made many friends here who regret to learn of his death He endured the hardships incident to pioneer life in western Kansas and was a man of generous impulses and never forgot the hospitable ways of the pioneer. The stranger never fail-ea to find food and shelter if he sought it at his hands. He had borne adversity bravely and and enjoyed prosperity quietly. He lived a long and useful life and filled the various relations of life and filled them well."

In 1910 William J., Salina E., Roy Glen, and Ethel E. Diamond are in Garden County, Nebraska.

In 1910 Mrs. Lillie Estle of Kanorado, Kansas was the teacher in district # 33, Kit Carson County.

They're in the 1910 census, Harry J. "Estte" 32 and Lillie J. 27.

Harry claimed - final three-year proof - a quarter in section 8, 8S 45W, Kit Carson County, in 1913. His witnesses in August 1912 were Frank McFarland, John Clark, Thomas A. Spratlen, and Fred Stahlecker, all of Bethune.

Harry registered for WWI in Bingham, Sheridan County, Nebraska, a stockman, born Auugust 30, 1877, with Lilly.

The Kansas City death certificate says Lillie Estle, living at 1503 Wyandotte, was born August 28, 1891 in Kansas to W. J. Diamond and mother McAdams. H. J. Estle was the informant, and she was to be buried in Kensington, Kansas.
The tombstone says 1882-1891.

In 1920 Garden County, Nebraska, Harry is farming, widowed, 42, with inlaw's with William J. Diamnond 62 and Salina E. 61.
Their daughter Ethel E. Diamond is single, 23.
In 1930 Harry is living with his widowed mother Lydia in Smith County, and sister Lucy M. 59 Another sister Merry E. Crosby 48 is also widowed.

In 1940 Smith County, Harry is 62, now married to Hazel 44 born in Kansas.

She might be Nora Hazel Hobson, daughter of Lee and Alice Hobson, who married a VIbber, then Chrles McFillen, then Harry Estle. , 1896-1961.

Harry 1877-1953 is buried in Smith County, Kansas # 111350011, with Lillie J. 1882-1919 # 111350037.


Dow P. Zondervan 1870-1912 is buried in Boulder, Colorado # 64777882.
"From a Boulder, Colorado paper we learn of the recent death of D. P. Zondervan, well known in Pella and Monroe. His wife is a daughter of John Estle. About two years ago Mr. Zondervan with his family removed to Colorado in hopes of getting relief from tuberculosis of which he was a sufferer. He died in the hospital at Boulder where he had been placed two weeks before. He is survived by his widow and seven children. He was born in Pella and was 41 years of age. "
