December 8, 1911 "The shocking news was received here last Friday that Charles L. Dickerson had committed suicide at his home in Denver by shooting himself that morning while the family was eating breakfast. Insomnia and melancholia were given as the cause for his rash act. He had been under the doctor's care for some time and the family had been advised that Mr. Dickersion might try to end his life. It was thought by some that financial troubles might have been the cause of the act, but this is absolutely denied by those intimate with his private life. Charles Dickerson was well known in Douglas county and this part of the state for the past quarter century, having lived at Elbert until a few years ago when he went to Denver and, together with his son, opened the law office of Dickerson & Dickerson. He was an able attorney and had acquired a large practice. For the past four years he has been County Attorney for Douglas county and has had other interests here which often brought him in contact with people in this community. His cheerful and jovial manner acquired for him a large circle of friends who are exceedingly sorry to learn of his untimely demise. Funeral services were held at the home in Denver on Sunday afternoon, at which time a large number of friends and relatives gathered to pay their last sad respects to the departed one."
