In 1880 Dixon County, Nebraska, Jacob D. Dennis is
a farm laborer, 16, with Anthony Dennis 63
and Cristina J. 51, both born in New York.
George A. 22 and Charles S. 21 were born in Ohio,
Jacob 16 and Mary 12 in New York, Delila J. 9 and Josephine 6 in Nebraska.
Anthony John Dennis, born 1816, died in Ponca Nebraska Dec 16, 1892.
"Died at his home in this city on Friday, September 16, 1892, of heart disease. A. Dennis aged 76 years and 20 days. Deceased was a early settler of Dixon county, having located on a homestead in Silver creek in 1870, since which time he has been one of our honest and much respected citizens. He has been a constant sufferer for the past year and has borne it all with the greatest patience. The funeral was held in the M.E. church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. McCool conducting the services."
To this union were born eight boys and three girls, of which all but two grew to manhood and womanhood. William H., of Hastings, Neb., Horace G., who died some 18 years ago, Geo. A., of Waverly, Ia., Chas, S. of Sioux City, Ia., John W., of Vona Colo., Jacob D., of Dixon county, Mrs. Mary Miller, of Elk Point, S.D., Mrs. Delilah Cassavant and Mrs. Josephine Cassavant, both of Sioux City, Ia. "
Christina Jane Dennis was born in Allegheny county, New York, January 16, 1829, and died at her home on Silver creek, Dixon county, Nebraska, March 29, 1909.
She was married to Anthony Dennis July 4, 1850.
Mrs. Dennis, with her husband, moved to Nebraska in 1870 and has continued to reside in Dixon county since. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. M. Burgett, of Sioux City, and Mrs. Orin Huff, of Limestone, N.Y.
She associated herself with the M.E. church in early childhood and has since been a steadfast member. The funeral services were conducted Wednesday of last week by Rev. J.J. Kemper at Central church,. Burial took place in Ponca cemetery. "

Jacob claimed a quarter in section 32, 8S 45W, Kit Carson County, in 1908. His claim was finalized in March 1910.
June 1, 1899 "There were three twisters at northeastern Nebraska
last night. The storm that passed between Ponca and Newcastle followed
along the ground for several miles before it broke up.
John Wilber lost everything but his house.
Charles Martin's house and barn were wrecked.
Samuel Green's barn was destroyed and Jake Dennis lost both his house
and barn."

"Funeral services for David E. Peck, 75 years old, who died at his home in Emerson Heights Tuesday, January 4, 1916, of heart trouble, will be held January 7, 1916 at 2 o'clock at Graceland Park cemetery.
Mr. Peck was born in New York in 1841. He came to Sioux City twenty-seven years ago. He is survived By Mrs. Peck, eight daughters, Mrs. George Kroesen, Mrs. Charles Dennis, Mrs. Edward Welsh [Welch], Mrs. Henry Jacques, Mrs. George Cook and Mrs. Henry Columbe, of Sioux City; Mrs. Robert J. Hayes of Elk Point, SD; Mrs. Jacob Dennis, of Ponca, NE, and four sons, Floyd Peck and Charles Peck of Sioux City; Will Peck of Akron, IA and George Peck of Westfield, IA."

Jacob DeWitt Dennis, 74, son of Anthony Dennis and Tina Dennison
died June 12, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa.
The death certificate said he was born in Wisconsin...He was to be buried in Graceland Cemetery, Cordella Dennis of 126 Douglas Street was the informant.

May 18, 1930 "The marriage of Miss Vera Cordelia Dennis,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Dennis, 1812 West Twentieth street
to Lloyd Waldo Spencer, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Spencer,
1912 Rebecca street will be solemnized this afternoon
at Mayflower Congregational church. Rev. Joseph Steels, jr., officiating.
Mrs. Dennls will give her daughter in marriage.
Mabel June Spencer, a sister of the bridegroom, being bridesmaid.
The groomsman will be Archie D. Dennis, brother of the bride,
Margaret Ann Spencer, niece of the bridegroom, will be ring bearer
and Ruth Alma Turner, flower girl. The musical setting for the ceremony
will be provided by Miss Charlotte May Keller, who will play two piano
numbers, while the guests assemble. Dwight B. Steele and Charles Small,
Jr, will sing a duet and Mrs. Ethel Jamison Booth will be organist.
Miss Dennis is a 1927 graduate of the Ponca, Neb.
high school, and then attended the Iowa State, where she was awarded a
scholarship. Mr. Spencer is a graduate of Central high school.
On their return from their honey moon, the couple will reside in Sioux City."
