Kit Carson County Pioneers:
William H. Dean, 8 South 45 West
William cash-claimed a quarter in section 26, 8S 45W, Kit Carson County, in 1891.
Then in 1892 William was assigned a quarter in 10, 9S 45W
for the claim of Micajaw Carlile for service in Captain Henry Bailey's
Company, Georgia Volunteers in the Creek/Florida War.
(Micahah Carlisle, 1787-1850, # 119146955, is buried in Talbot County, Georgia.
This Bible record was found in a book in the Georgia State Archives in Atlanta, Georgia. It is bound into a Georgia Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) set of books, Family Bible Records, Series II, page 45. It was typed, and was exactly as follows, except for information added in {braces}:
"Copied from the Bible of Micajah and Susanna Carlisle who were married December 29, 1808.

( Micajah Carlisle ( I ) Born 1787 in North Carolina (was of Scottish decent; his parents {grandparents?} emigrated from Scotland to North Carolina. He died 1850 Talbot Co., Ga.; buried at family cemetery in Roughedge district. The Bible with original family record in {sic} now in the possession of Mrs. Martha Weaver, Columbus, Ga. {she is now deceased, and we have been unable to locate original Bible}
Family record of Matthew Carlisle ( I ) born June 28, 1811 in Washington Co., Ga.; died July 12, 1890. Married December 20, 1838 to Lucy Stovall born October 31, 1820 {"near Perry, Ga." is crossed out and replaced with "Putnam Co."} and died January 1,{"1901" is crossed out, and replaced with "1902"} Talbot Co., Ga.

James Carlisle Born Jan. 31, 1840. Served in War between the States. Died in battle at Ocean Pond, Fla., Feb. 22, 1865. {Battle research indicates he was killed on February 20, 1865}

In 1870 Gilpin County, Colorado, William is a miner, 17 born in Michigan - Thomas 44 is a miner born in New York, married to Emma 43 Kentucky. James 21 is a miner, born in Kentucky. Ioa 13 and Fred 12 were born in Michigan.
"Third child and second son of Thomas Jay Dean, William was born and raised on his father's farm at Nankin, Michigan. In 1860 he is listed as 7 year old William H. Dean in father's house in Nankin, Livonia Twp., Wayne Co., MI. He probably moved to Colorado in September of 1865 with his father and most of the family when the settled in or near Idaho Springs, Clear Creek County. William H. Dean is likely the 'Wm. Dean' who was listed in Clear Cr., Idaho dist., Colorado on the 1870 census.
Brother James L. Dean married in Idaho Springs on April 5, 1873 to Josie Fitzpatrick. On March 27, 1874 James and Josie had their first child - Guy Rodman Dean at Idaho Springs - William's nephew.

In the fall of 1875 William's parents left Clear Creek County and moved to Hot Sulphur Springs in Grand County, Colorado.[3]

William is buried in Denver 1854-1902 # 13463789 "William H. Dean was born late in 1854 at Nankin, Wayne Co., Michigan. He was the 3rd of 6 children born to Thomas J Dean and Nancy (McKinney) Dean.
In the fall of 1862, when William turned 8 years old, his father went away to fight in the Civil War. His father was mustered out of the Army on July, 11, 1865 and the following September Thomas moved the family to the mining camp of Idaho Springs, Clear Creek County, Colorado.
William married Clarissa Hulet on 4 Apr 1885 in Grand Co., Colorado
A Rifle Colorado newspaper reported: "MAY 30, 1902 Mrs. Marker received the sad news of the death of her brother, Wm Dean, at Denver Monday.""

married 8 years to Margaret June 1868 Illinois.

August 23, 1895 Pueblo "Marriage license was issued by the
county clerk yesterday to William H. Dean and Miss Mary Bird."
The transcribed record has her as Mary BYRD.
W. Dean and Nima Dean divorced in Pueblo in 1900.
He might be the one in 1900 Pueblo, divorced, living with his brother.
William H. Dean, dying September 2, 1925, age 56,
is buried in Pueblo # 111354915.
