December 1965 Hutchinson, Kansas letter to the editor
"I have just been reading the letters in the News Clock.
They were against smoking, drinking and shooting on television.
What can we expect of our children when they see such stuff regularly?
Most of those who wrote against these things did not want their
names used. I'm proud of the fact that I am against them.
I also have a number of friends that are. I read "TV Specials and
She-Men." I say let the men hop to it, what about all the
he-women who wear pants, shirt tails, smoke, etc., and think that
is all right. If the job calls for such clothes it may be
permissible, but not in public.
