William A. Strawn, 24, son of Samuel Strawn and Alenna Stevenson, born at Chillicothe, Iowa, married Clara B. Pratt, 2, daughter of Levi C. Pratt and Sarah Goodall, on March 25, 1886 in Ringgold County, Iowa.

CLARA'S MOTHER

"Sarah PRATT was born November 30, 1844 [Morgan Co. IL], and died July 23, 1934, aged 89 years, seven months, and 23 days.
Sarah GOODALL, the daughter of William and Jane (HODGSON) GOODALL, was born on a farm near Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois. She spent her childhood and youth on the old farm there, and when she was 21 (sic) years old was married to Levi C[lark] PRATT on March 12, 1865 [Morgan Co. IL]. To this union seven children were born, namely: Clara, Etta, Estella, Mary Ann (sic, should be Mary, Anna), Clark and William.
In the spring of 1880 she, with her husband and five daugthers, came in a covered wagon to Ringgold County, Iowa, and established their pioneer home on the prairie land of Middle Fork township.
Later they moved to a farm in Lotts Creek township. At this place her husband died on August 19, 1906. In 1919 she moved to Mount Ayr, where she lived until her health so failed that she was unable to keep house longer, and four and one-half years ago she came to live with her daughter, Mrs. Anna LAY, where she made her home until her death. Her family circle was first broken by the death of Mrs. Estella RUSH, who died on August 5, 1895. This was followed by the death of her husband in 1906. On March 27, 1917, Mrs. Mary PATCH died. On January 6, 1931, the family circle was broken once more by the death of another daughter, Mrs. Etta PATCH.
About forty-five years ago Mrs. PRATT was converted and baptized by Elder F. C. WATKINS and united with the Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church, and remained a truly consecrated Christian until she fell asleep in Jesus on Monday evening about six o'clock. She had a gentle, kind disposition, and was always cheerful and uncomplaining. She was a loving, self-sacrificing mother and a friend to all she came in contact with. She greatly enjoyed attending church and Sunday school and went as long as her health permitted.
Among those who are left to mourn are Mrs. Clara STRAWN of Vista, California, Mrs. Anna LAY of Mount Ayr, Clark PRATT of Benton, William PRATT of Oakes, N. D. There are also 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas GOODALL of Shenandoah and James GOODALL of Kentucky, who are the only ones left of a family of eleven children."
