Kit Carson County Pioneers:
William W. Seright, 8 South 43 West
William Seright/Searight (1812 Ireland-1888 Nebraska) (parents unknown to me) and Harriet West (1818 Ireland-1892 Iowa, daughter of Trotter West were married in Zanesville, Ohio in Sept 1841 by George Miles, Minister of Bap Ch.Both were born in Ireland according to a son’s census record.William said that his surname was originally spelled Searight, but that he later used the spelling Seright. They went West to Mechanicsville, Iowa before 1855 and settled in Muscatine, Iowa.
They were the parents of 10 known children:
William West Seright (1842-1888),
James Andrew Seright (1843 in Muskingum Co, Ohio-1863 died in the Civil war)
Mary Seright (1845-1851),
John Trotter Seright (1848-1849),
Lucinda Jane seright (1851-1853),
Alexander Wilson Seright (1853-1935)
Thomas Henry Seright (1855 in Mechanicsville, IA-1944 Mercer Co, IL)
Llewellyn Warren Seright (1858 in Ohio-1930 Muscatine, IA)
Josephine Seright (1860-1860)
George Seright (1861-1958 Montana)
Daniel Cavanaugh, administrator for the heirs of Millam W. Seright, Deceased, of Elbert County, COlorado,
claimed a quarter in section 5, 8S 43W in 1891.
In 1860 Cedar County, Iowa, William is 18, with parents William 45 and Harriet 40. Jmes A. is 16, Alexander 5, Thomas H. 3, and Louella 2.
In 1880 Muscatine County, Iowa, William W. Seright is 37, born in Ohio,
farming, single, with parents Wm. 62 and Harriet 60 both born in Ireland. Thomas is 24, Lewis 22, and Goerge W. 18.
William W. Seright 1842-1888 is buried in Thayer County, Nebraska # 26642133.
