health, taught school, and moved to KS for the drier climate. He and his
wife Harriet Marney Taylor were parents to six sons, and two daughters.
Their children were: George, Mary, Jonathan, Eli, T. Jeff., Ann Mariah,
Marion, and Elias Taylor Mary the daughter of Wm. and Polly Taylor was
"adopted" by Charles and Harriet Taylor. Charles Taylor homesteaded in
Norton County, KS. Some of Charles and Harriet Taylor's sons later ranched in Sherman County, KS. Charles and Harriet Taylor's youngest son Elias was my grandfather and keeper of the old family letters. "

Anna M. Scritchfield, daughter of Greenbury Scritchfield and America Howard, married Elias H Taylor on May 14, 1908 in Appanoose, County, Iowa.
In 1910 America is in Sherman County, Kansas, 75, with Elias H. and Anna Taylor, both 40, and Bessie newborn.
Elias H. Taylor proved up a quarter in Sherman County, Kansas 10S 41W in 1912.
His brother Marion S. Taylor proved up one in that township in 1913.
America proved up a quarter in section 28, 8S 43W in 1915. The certificate has "America", the data transcription has "Amelia"
Thanks to Claudia :" America (Americus) did die in Kit Carson County, Colorado; also her daughter Anna Taylor died in the same year in the same county as a result of the Flu of 1916."
"Americus" B. Scrutchfield 1835-1916 is buried in Johnson County, Missouri # 29329448.

1976 Kansas City "James L. Scrutchfield, 78, Holden, Mo., died Wednesday
at a hospital in Clinton. He was a life long Johnson County, Missouri, resident.
Mr. Scrutchfield was a farmer before he retired in 1965. He leaves four sons,
Clark Scrutchfield, Holden; Clarence Scrutchfield, St. Petersburg, Fla.;
Russell Scrutchfield, Lone Jack in Jackson County, and J. C. Scrutchfield, Centralia,
Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Hancher, 714 Benton, Kansas City; 13 grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wood Chapel, Holen; burial in Elm Springs."
