Mack Pea, 8 South 43 West


Mack (George Button/Brinton McClellan) Pea was born December 7, 1863 in Sullivan, Moultrie County, Illinois to Jacob Pea and Mary B. Hasting.
Almost certainly he was named after the Civil War general "Little Mac" who ran against Lincoln for presicent in 1864.

In 1870 Moultrie County, Illinois, Jacob "Peas" is 39, Mary B. 36, Dora A. 15, Thomas C. 13, Lucy C. 8, George B. (THIS IS MACK) 6, Harriet E. 5, and Levi E. 1.
Mary was born in Ohio, all the others in Illinois.

In 1880 Moultrie County, Illinois, Jacob Pea is farming, 49, with Mary 46. Thomas is 23, George Mc 17, Harriet 14, Lorenzo 12, Marett 9, and Peter 7.


Mack claimed a quarter in section 17, 8S 43W in 1891.

In 1900 Moultrie County, Jacob is farming, born Dec 1831 in Illinois, with Mary B. Dec 1833 Ohio. George B. Mc was born Dec 1863 in Illinois. His sister Mary E. born Aug 1870 is married to William Rhodes Nov 1870 in Texas, with Elisie 7 and Loren E. 5 both born in Illinois.
. All three men are farming.
Mack is a farm laborer in 1910 Moultrie County, 41, rooming with Wiliam Libby 61 and hsi son Claude Libby 20.
Mack Pea and Rose Siler married on December 7, 1916 in Vigo County, Indiana.

April 9, 1927 Mattoon, Illinois "Jacob Pea of near Kirksville died at the home of his daughter. Mrs. W. T. Rhodes, near Kirksville Wednesday, at the age of 96. He was the county's oldest citizen. Hia wife died many years ago, but he leaves six children, as follows Mack Pea of Sullivan, Eric Pea of Lovington. Mrs. W. F. Wright of Decatur, Pete Pea of Hinton, Tom Pea of Oklahoma and Mrs. W. T. Rhodes of near Klrksville. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, interment waa in the Pea cemetery."

In 1925 Rose Pea joined the Sullivan, Illinois Christian Church.

In 1930 Moultrie County, Illinois, Mack is 66, no occupation, married to Rose, 34, both born in Illinois.

Mack 76 and Rose 44 are in Sullivan, Moultrie County, in 1940.

One tree said Mack died April 10, 1948 in Moultrie County.
April 12, 1948 "PEA, Mack, 85, of Sullivan, died 7 a. m Saturday in home: leaves wife, Rose; two brothers, Pete Pea of Shelbyville, and L. E. Pea of Sullivan, one sister, Mrs. Ella Rhodes, Sullivan. Funeral 2 p m Monday McMullin funetal home, Sullivan; burial in Greenhilll cemetery."

He's buried in Sullivan, Moultrie County 1863-1948 # 62351177, with Rose 1895-1960 # 62351207.

October 26, 1960 " Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Pea, 65, Sullivan, who was found ded in her home at 9 a.m. today, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the McMullin Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home."

Thomas Clinton Pea

March 9, 1938 Decatur Illinois "Funeral services for Mrs. Debbie A. Wright, 83, who died late Tuesday in her home, 270 East Division street, will be conducted at 1:30 p. m. Thursday in the residence. The body will be taken to Lovington for burial in Kellar cemetery. Death followed a long illness.
Mrs. Wright had been a resident of Decatur 20 years, coming here from Lovington. Her husband, W. F. Wright, died nine years ago. She was a member of the First Church of God.
Mrs. Wright leaves six sons and three daughters: Mrs. C. C. Rhoades. Mrs. Charles D. Cundiff, Mrs. Ollie Davis, Arthur, Hershel, Clinton and Owsey Wright, all of Decatur, Lewis Wright of Dalton City and Otto Wright of Lovington. She also leaves three brothers, Mack Pea of Sullivan, Eric Pea, Lovington, and P. J. Pea of Shelbyville, and one sister, Mrs. W. T. Rhodes of Sullivan. There are 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren."
