Delana and Annie (Brown) Littlejohn, 8 South 43 West



Messer's first wife Sarah (Duncan) Littlejohn 1815-1845 is buried in the Little John Cemetery in Owen County, Indiana # 116920656.

In 1850 Owen County, Indiana, Messer Littlejohn is 34, Polly 24, Mary 10, Isaac M. 8, Amos W. 7, Harriet 4, Nathaniel 2, and Delana Littlejohn newborn. Rebecca Fiscus is 17.

One descendant wrote "Amos Wayne Littlejohn is my great grandfather. He is the son of Messer Littlejohn and Sarah "Sally" Duncan>

2)Harriet Maples
3) Tennessee Adline Coker (mar. Tenny in Everton Arkansas 1900)
He had had 10 children with Harriet and 5 children with Tenny in Ark."

" Aaron Less Slough, b. 1844 in Indiana; he married Harriet Littlejohn, served as a Union soldier in the Civil War, and died 19 Dec. 1886 in Coal City, Ind. "

In 1860 Owen County, Messer is 45, Mary 35, Mary 20, Isaac M. 18, Amos W. 16, Harriett 12 Nathan 10, "Delaney" 9, Henry C. 8, Jacob W. 5, Lyhia E. 3, and Ezra 1.

In 1870 Greene County, Indiana, Messer is 55, Mary 46, Nathan 21, "Delary" 20, Henry C. 19, Jacob W. 16, Lydia E. 13, Ezra F. 11, Cary 9, and Nancy E. 5.

Messer died October 16, 1897, and is buried in Clay County, Indiana # 131674291.
Polly dying February 5, 1883 is also buried in Clay County # 131674436.



In 1885 Gage County, Nebraska, Delana is a music dealer, 35, single.

In 1860 Wayne County, Indiana, Sam'l Brown is 35, Susanna L. 33, both born in Ohio. Lindley M. is 7, born in Indiana.

In February 1868 the White Water monthly meeting - Quaker - received Lindley M. and Annie Mary, children of Samule S. and Susan Brown.

Anna M. Brown is in Wayne County, Indiana in 1870, 7, born in Indiana, with Samuel S. 40 , a farmer and miller. Susana L. is 43, both born in Ohio.
Lindley M. 10, born in Indiana.

Samuel S. Brown and Susannah Lane had married on October 7, 1846 in Preble County, Ohio.

Annie died in Los Angeles County June 15, 1944, born Sept 1, 1862 in Indiana, mother Lane, father Brown.

History of Wayne County says "There are at present a grist-mill and a saw-mill, called "Eelief Mills," owned by Samuel S. Brown, "Wm. A. Elmer, and John "Wolf. "
Lindley attended Earlham College (Quaker) in Richmond, Indiana in 1870-1872.

All four were members of the White Water Monthly Meeting in 1876.

Samuel, of Richmond, Wayne County, filed a patent for a self-igniting fire-kindler on January 20, 1876, witnessed by W.E. Bell and John Howarth.

Delana Littlejohn, son of Messer Littlejohn and Polly "Fisens", married Annie M. Brown, daughter of Samuel Brown, on May 2, 1890 in Gage County, Nebraska.

In 1893 -1894 Beatrice, Nebraska, Littlejohn and Miller have a business.

Delana claimed a quarter in section 18, 8S 43W in 1900.

In 1900 Monroe County, Iowa, Delana Littlejohn is a music dealer, born Feb 1850 in Indiana, married ten years to Annie M. Sept 1862 Indiana. She's had four kids, three living. Orville D. Dec 1893 in Kansas, Ruby Jan 1896 and Gail F. January 1900 in Iowa. Annie's mother? Susana L. Brown born April 1826 in Ohio is with them. Annie is her only child.
She might be the Susana L. Brown buried in Blue Springs, Nebraska, 1826-1902, with Samuel S. Brown 1823-1886 # 14399937.

Annie Mary Littlejohn in 1943 applied for a delayed birth certificate, saying Beulah Blanche Littlejohn was born in Albia, monroe County on June 3, 1903.
Annie was living at 2322 Echo Park Avenue in Los Angeles.

In 1910 Delana is a furniture salesman in Phoenix, Arizona, 60, with Anna 47, Orville 16, Ruby 14, Gail 10,a nd Beulah 6.

Annie's brother Lindley was a truck farmer in 1910 Maricopa County, Arizona, 56, married twice, this time for 19 years, but no spouse, born in Indiana.

In 1913 Delana and his wife sold a lot in Phoenix to Sam A. Webster.

In 1918 Los Angeles, Delana is a clerk, living at 636 N. Berendo. So does Gail, a student and Orville D, and Ruby E. a student.

In 1920 Delana is a clerk in a furniture store, living in Burbank, California. He's 69, Annie M. 57, Orville D., an electrician, 26 was born in Kansas, Ruby E. 24 and Beulah 16 in Iowa.
In 1930 Montebello, California, Delana is 80, Anna M. 67, Ruby E. 34, and Gail J. a teacher is 30.

Annie's brother Lindley M. Brown died January 2, 1936, and is also buried in Gelndale # 137981846.

In 1940 Los Angeles, Anna M. 77 is widowed, and Ruby E. 44 no occupation is with her.

Delana 1850-1934 is buried in Glendale, California # 125433943.
So is Annie M. (Brown) Littlejohn 1862-1944 # 85452831.

Ruby Estelle never married, apparently, and is buried in Los Angeles County 11896-1968.

Gail Langenbeck, born January 17, 1900 in Boone, Iowa, died October 7, 1992.

Vernon Langenbeck died June 14, 1960, buried in Westminster, California # 102344362
"Vernon graduated from Cal Poly in 1925. He was married to Gail Littlejohn, who was born January 17, 1900 in Iowa. She died October 7, 1992 at Dana Point, California. Vernon was the 20th mayor of Huntington Beach, California and served from April 1950 to April 1952. The Langenbeck Park at Garfield Avenue and Magnolia Street in Huntington Beach, CA is named for Vernon"

ANNIE'S BROTHER LINDLEY BROWN

Lindley M. Brown claimed land in 1888 in Jerauld County, South Dakota.

Lindley is in Blaine County, Idaho in 1900, married fifteen years but no spouse, born July 1854 in Indiana, farming.

In 1902 Lindley Brown, of Cottage Grove Oregon, applied for ownership of timber land in Cottage Grove.
Lindley was a truck farmer in 1910 Maricopa County, Arizona, 56, married twice, this time for 19 years, but no spouse, born in Indiana.

In 1920 Spokane County, Washington, Lindley is a beekeeper, 67, widowed, living alone.

In 1930 Downey California, Lindley is living at the Los Angeles County poor farm.
He's 78, born in Indiana, widowed.
