George and Hannah Jeppe, 8 South 43 West



In 1880 Clinton County, Iowa, Carl Jeppe is a butcher, 49, with Doris 41, both born in Holstein, Germany. Emama is 23, Theodor 21 a butcher, George 17, Amaalie 15, Carl F. 13, August 11, Molke 7, Dora 4, and Olga 1.
In 1880 Wheatland, Iowa, Henry Landwehr is 60, Katie 50, Emma 21, and Louisa 20 born in Illinois.

November 1863 "11/8 Preached the funeral Sermon of Victor Charles Landwehr. He was born 1/13/27 at Alten Brochhausen Kingdom, Hanover. His parents were Herman and Margretha Landwehr. He was baptized in early childhood by Rev. Klevers . At a suitable age he was confirmed by Rev. Gerke. He emigrated to America and resided several years near Chicago, Ill., from whence he emigrated to Clinton Co., Iowa. The War having broken out, he enlisted in Company B., 16th Regiment, Iowa Volunteers. He was in service about two year when he took sick and died in the Hospital at Vicksburg. He was an honorable soldier. He is mourned by three brothers: Albert, Herman, and Henry Landwehr; and by one sister, Sophia, wife of Fredrick Gadmann. Peace to his ashes. Amen. Revelation 22:20 "

Emma (Landwehr) Schjmutz is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, dying October 22, 1888.

George Jeppe and Louisa Landwhire married on March 19, 1884 in Clinton County.

Louise died November 20, 1888 in Clinton County, age 27.

In July 1916 Wheatland, Clinton County "Geo. Jeppe, Stratton, Colorado-funeral Mrs. Kay"

In 1900 Clinton County, Catherine Kay is widowed, born Dec 1835 in Germany. Her granddaughter Paulina Kelding 8 born in Iowa is with her.

Cathrina Key was in Clinton County in 1910, widowed, born about 1836 in Germany, immigrating in 1884.

George is farming in 1910 Kit Carson County, 46, born in Iowa, second marriage of 20 years to Hannah 44 Germany. Josephine is 17, Edward 14, and Irwin 10, all three born in Iowa.


George claimed a quarter in section 6, 8S 43W in 1911. His witnesses in 1910 were Clarence Disbrow, Joseph Bauer, Fred Shumate, and Arthur Sumner, all of Burlington.

February 1912 "George Jeppe of Stratton transacted business in Burlington Tuesday."

George, a dairy farmer, 56, and Hannah 55 are living in Stratton in 1920, with Edard W. 24 and Irvin 20.

George 1868-1928 is buried in Stratton # 88115910, with Hannah K. Jeppe 1864-1946 # 88115883.

In 1930 Stratton, Hannah is 65, widowed, with Edward and Ervin both dairy farmers.

Josephine C. Jeppe, 22, married Ezra B. Atkins on December 16, 1914 in Kit Carson County.

Josephine C. Atkins 1892-1973 is buried in Stratton # 35884192, with Ezra B. 1890-1965.

Edward W. Jeppe 1895-1949 is buried in Stratton # 88115778.

Ervin George Jeppe was born January 8, 1900 in Buena Vista COunty, Iowa to George and Hannah "Kae" Jeppe.
He's buried in Stratton 1900-1957 # 88115008.
