ONE POSSIBLE

Because of Viola "Umphrey" living in Taylor County, Iowa in 1880, this one might be more likely.
Viola's claim was in township 7S 43W, about six miles north of William's claim.

In 1870 W.H. Humphrey, born in Iowa to Ed Humphrey and Mary Barnes, married Jennie A. Cooper, 21, born in Lincolnshire, England, on January 1, 1887 in Adams County, Iowa. Jennie was the daughter of George Cooper and Dina Esillog.

William H. Humphrey and Jane A. Cooper had Harley Fred Humphrey in Holt, Taylor County, Iowa on Decemer 10, 1898.

William H. Humphrey and Jennie Ann Cooper had Kenneth Lester Humphrey on Sept 10, 1909 in Sharpsburg, Taylor County, Iowa.

April 1914 Akron, Colorado 'Mr. Humphrey who resides on the Deno place, purchased the relinquishment of Ole Anderson last week. We are glad to see Mr. Humphrey become a land owner, but sorry to lose Ole."

December 1914 "W. H. Humphrey, from Conway, Ia., visited with his brother Clarence last week. He left for home Saturday to prepare to move out here in the near future."

March 1915 "Wm. Humphrey arrived here last week and took up quarters at the Enoch Wright place, where he will farm this year."

December 1916 "Mrs. Jennie Humphrey was on the sick list a few days last week, but her many friends will be glad to hear that she is now improving."

March 1917 "Mr. Will Humphrey returned from Missouri several days ago, where he had gone to buy hay. A carload of this hay arrived in Akron last Friday and is at present being unloaded by Mr. Humphrey and his neighbors."

October 1917 "The three married daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Humphrey are visiting at the parental home. They are Mrs. Price of Gravity, Iowa; Mrs. Kernew and family of Bedford, Iowa, and Mrs. Nelson and family of Montana, who had been visiting at Gravity, Iowa, and were on their way to their home in Montana.
W. H. Humphrey, and son-in-law, Mr. Nelson, visited at the C. C. Goodloe home Wednesday."

January 18, 1918 "Messrs. Clarence and Will Humphrey received the sad news of the death of a cousin who was killed in an automobile accident. Telegram did not give details of the accident."

In 1920 Washington County, Colorado, William H. Humphrey is farming, 55, born in Iowa, with Jayne 55 England. Orval D. 16, Grace F. 13, and Kenneth L. 11 were born in Iowa.

November 1922 "Mrs. W. H. Humphrey and two sons, Orville nd Kenneth, from near Lindon, Colorado, visited and took dinner at the C.G. Humphrey home on Wednesday of last week. They formerly resided in these parts."

February 1923 "J. W. Humphrey of Greeley visited his two brothers; C. G. and W H. Humphrey a few days last week."
"E. M. Humphrey from Reed county, Montana who has been here visiting his two sons, W. H. and C. G. Humphrey, left last Thursday for Iowa to visit his children there."

William Henry Humphrey 1865-1967 is buried in Taylor County # 46932797, with Jane Ann (Cooper) Humphrey 1864-1926.

Mary M. Humphrey, 18, born at Gravity, Iowa, married Frank M. Still,22 in Taylor County, Iowa on August 2, 1912.

Lulu May Humphrey, 21, married Levi Kernen 30, on March 24, 1914 in Taylor County.
Lula Mae Humphrey Kernen, daughter of William H. Humphrey and Jane Ann Cooper Humphrey, was born in Taylor County, Iowa, July 10, 1893.
Lula attended the country public schools of the Bedford community. She was a lifetime resident of Taylor County.
On March 24, 1914 she was married to Levi Kernen at Sharpsburg, Iowa, and to this union two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.
She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons and their families: Ray and his wife, Opal, Conway, Dale and his wife, Beulah Mae, Conway, two brothers, Kenneth Humphrey, Billings, Mont.; Orville Humphrey, Bedford; two sisters, Mary Nelson, Hamilton, Mont. and Lela Price, Bedford; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
Lula farmed with her husband on the Kernen farm until her husband's death in 1956. After his death she kept house for her brother-in-law, John, moving into the City of Bedford in 1960.
Lula accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and belonged to the Methodist Church in Gravity and attended there until moving into Bedford where she joined the First Baptist Church. She was faithful to her church and attended regularly as long as her health permitted.
Lula will be greatly missed by her family, friends, her pastor and the members of the First Baptist Church.

"Wiiliam Henry Humphrey (son of Thomas Humphrey and Martha Brooks) was born 24 Jan 1873 in Van Buren County, Iowa, and died 04 Aug 1932 in Ness City, Kansas.He married Cora Martha Rishel, daughter of George Washington Rishel and Candacie Brownfield."

In 1880 Ness County, Kansas, Thomas Humphrey is 40, born in Iowa, with Martha 39 in Virginia. Charles 18, Lucy J. 12, Mary A. 10, William 7, and Ethama 4 in Iowa. Syrlybell eight months old was born in Kansas.

Cora Rishel was in Buffalo County, Nebraska in 1880, 6, born in Ohio, with parents George W. 34 born in Virginia, farming and Candace 32 born in Pennsylvania. Clarence 14, Ira 11, and Alva 8 were born in Pennsylvania.

1897 Ness County, Kansas "Will Humphrey, formerly of High Point township, but who has been for some time past in Colorado, returned last Saturday. Thomas Humphrey, formerly of High Point township, was in the city last Saturday on leave of absence from the Statt Soldiers' Home at Dodge City. "

In 1900 Fremont County, Colorado, William H. Humphrey is a laborer in a saw mill, born February 1873 in Iowa, married five years to Cora M., June 1874 in Ohio. They have Lewart S. March 1897 born in Colorado and Aradema August 1898 born in Kansas.

Clarence Rishel born Dec 1865, with mother Candace April 1848, both born in Pennsylvania, are next to them on the census.

WILLIAM'S SECOND MARRIAGE

March 25, 1913 Great Bend Kansas "W. H. Humphrey of Ness City and Mrs. Bertha Jackson of Slater, Mo., were united in marriage in this city-last night by the probate judge at his 'home. "Bill" Humphrey is one of the well known cattle men of Ness county and was a widower with several progeny. His bride also Is blessed with the progeny of a former union and the happy family is one of numerical equations."


In 1915 Ness County, Bill Humphrey is 41, Bertha 43 born in Illinois.

In 1910 Fremont County, Cora is 35, widowed, with Leverette 13, Evadena L. 11, Bradford R. 9, Mildred 5, and Oswel 4.

Cora M. Humphrey and Amasa B. Floyd married on June 4, 1913 in Fremont County.

Oland Amassa Floyd was born January 24, 1914 in Ridgeway, Colorado.

In 1920 Pueblo, Colorado, Cora M. is 45, marrried to A. B. Floyd 56 born in Indiana, with a son Oland 5, born in Colorado. Her kids Bradford Humphrey 18, Mildred 15, and Orvil 14 are with them.

In 1930 Pueblo, on the same page as Bradford and Myrtle Humphrey, Cora M. and A. B. Floyd have Olin 16. Her brother Clarence S. Richel 65 born in Pennsylvania is with them, single.

Clarence E. Richel dying April 30, 1930, is buried in Upper Beaver Creek Cemetery, Fremont County Colorado # 23285207.
So is Candace Rishel 1848-1911 # 23285197.
"Candacie was born in Pennsylvania in 1848. She married George W. Rishel in 1865 when she was seventeen. He was a Civil War veteran. Candacie and George had three children: Clarence, Alva J., and Cora Martha (Floyd). The Rishels settled on Upper Beaver Creek, where George built a sawmill. In 1897, the sawmill exploded, and George and Alva were killed. All the Rishels are buried in the family plot in Upper Beaver Creek Cemetery. May have been married to a Humphrey in later years."

Cora Martha Floyd, per # 23284922, is buried in the same cemetery 1874-1953.

Leverette S. Humphrey and Flora M. Fehr married in Pueblo, Colorado on January 1, 1919, and had Roy Levette Humphrey on Dec 4, 1919 in Pueblo Colorado, who died March 1978.

In 1940 Pueblo, Colorado, Leverette is a truck driver, 43, with Flora 39, Charles 12, Cecil 9, Dorothy 7, and Neal 5.

Leverette S. Humphrey 1896-1984 is buried in Pueblo # 110524881, with Flora May 1900-1964 # 110524957.
Flora (Hammond) Humphrey, who died in 1930, was 70, wife of J. F. Huumphrey.
Bradford Richel Humphrey was born May 22, 1901 in Red Creek Canyon, Colorado, and registered for WWII in Pueblo, next of kin Ivy Boyce.

Bradford Humphrey, 19, married Myrtle Andrews on August 26, 1920 in Pueblo.

Bradford Racheal Humphrey, born May 22, 1901 in Kansas, is buried in Pueblo in 1980 # 32229870.

Zella was laid to rext next to him."

Leverette Leroy is buried in Ukiah, California # 2900567, with Mildred Roberta Humphrey 1920-1980.
