In 1880 Allegany County, New York, Henry Hobart is farming, 56, Lucy 51, Chester 18 and Clara 12.
Henry 1823-1884 is buried in Friendship, ALlegany County # 125510179, with Lucy C. (Colwell) Hobart 1828-1914 # 125510193.
"Mrs. Lucy C. Hobart, wife of the late Henry Hobart of this village, who died about 30 years ago, passed away at the home of her son at Yuma, Arizona, July 17, after an illness of only a few weeks. Deceased was born in Friendship Dec. 14, 1828, and was the daughter of William Colwell, and the last surviving member of that family. Soon after her husband's death she went to Yuma and has since resided there, but she longed for her old home and friends here and almost at the last she said she wanted to go back home. She will be kindly remember by the older residents here as a lady highly respected. She was a sister of the late Lester Colwell of this place. She is survived by two sons, George and Chester of Yuma, Arizona, and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Salsbury, Meridian, Iowa. Deceased was an aunt of Manley, Arthur and Harriet Hobart and Mrs. Gard Wells of this place and Mrs. A. E. Persons of Buffalo. Her son George accompanied the remains here. Burial at Mr. Hope."

In 1885 Nuckolls County, Nebraska, Chester is 23, Clara 17, George 29, and Lucy 52 is with them.


Chester claimed a quarter in section 13, 8S 43W in 1891.

1891 Pueblo, Colorado "C.E. Hobart, of the Denver Times, was in the city yesterday."

Chester E. Hobart, 36, and Jane Fyfe, 28, married in Colorado Springs on April 20, 1898.

In 1899 Chester Hobart and wife attended a wedding anniversary of Miles Snell of Ramah, Colorado.

In 1900 Kit Carson County, Chester is a sheep herder, born January 1862 in New York , with Jane Dec 1870 in Canada, married two years. Charles Feb 1899 in Colorado, and his mother Lucy C. Hobart born Feb 1828 in New York. Margaret Fife, Jane's sister, was born May 1882 in Canada.

August 1904 Elbert, Colorado "C. E. Hobart has gone to Eastonville, where he assumes the management of the Gates Mercantile company's store. Mr. Hobart came here from Ramah about June 1st. Elbert loses a good family by the change."

Telluride, Colorado 1910 "J. W. Glenn and C. E. Hobart of Denver, representatives of the American Tobacco Company were arrivals at the New Sheridan last night."

January 1910 Yuma, Arizona "Mrs. L. C. Hobart of Meridian, Idaho, mother of G. H. Hobart and brother, proprietors of the Hobart grocery, has arrived in Yuma to spend the last half of the winter with her sons. Her daughter, Mrs. A. N. Salisbury, also of Meridian, accompanies her."

January 1910 Yuma Arizona "The Hobart Grocery company has received Kansas flour the kind the Yuma are talking about, and known as U S. flour."
In 1910 Yuma, Arizona, Chester is a grocery merchant, 48, with Jane F. 40 born on Prince Edward Island. Charlie is 11, Lucy G. 9, Annette 7, Frank 4 were born in Colorado, and Clara 1 in Arizona. Lucy G. 81 is still with them.

1912 Yuma "Hobart Grocery Co (J H and C E Hobart). "

In 1920 Yuma County, Arizona, Chester is 58, Jane 50, Charles 20 married but no spouse. Lucy is 19, Annie 17, Frank 14, and Clara 10.

In 1930 Chester is 68, Jane 60, Lucy 29 a bookkeeper, and Frank 25 a truck driver.

April 16, 1948 " Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Chester E. Hobart, 790 Fourth avenue, Sunday will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. A reception will be held between the hours of 3 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon at the Business and Professional Women's house to which all friends of Mr. and Mrs. Hobart are invited.
Among the out-of-town guests arriving for the celebration are Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Wilson and children of Yuba City, Calif.; Charles Hobart. Phoenix, and Mrs. Margaret Clark, Santa Barbara, Calif. Mrs. Wilson is a daughter, Charles Hobart, a son, and Mrs. Clark a sister of Mrs. Chester E. Hobart. "

Chester, born Jan 3 1862 in New York to Henry Hobart and Lucy Colwell, died in Yuma Arizona on March 7, 1950.
He's buried in Yuma # 48838810, with Jane Fyfe Hobart 1869-1953.
"Final rites for Chester Edward Hobart, 88-year-old retired Yuma farmer, will be held at IO a m. Friday at the Johnson chapel. The long-time Yuman passed aw'ay Tuesday afternoon at his home at 790 4th avenue. - Born January 3, 1862 in * Friendship. New York, he had lived in Yuma for 43 years. Surviving are the widow. Jane; two sons, Charles of Phoenix and Frank of Yuma; and three daughters, Lucy Hobart and Mrs. Dale Cox of Yuma and Mrs. E E. YVilson of Yuba City. California. Reverend Raymond C. A cheson will conduct the services. Final interment will be in Desert Lawn Memorial Park."

GEORGE H. HOBART

"Married Zella A. Caldwell on Jan. 15, 1891 in Callaway County, Missouri."
Zella was the daughter of Thomas Howe Caldwell 1818-1896, marrying Catherine (Kitty() Ann Ely in Callaway County Missouri in 1845.
Edith "Daughter of G. H. and Zella Hobart" born Dec 18, 1894, died January 16, 1897, and is buried in Stratton, Colorado.
"  Died Jan.16,1897 at her home at Claremont, Colorado, Edith, oldest child of Geo. H and Zella Hobart, nee Caldwell, aged 2 years and 29 days. When she woke from her slumbers she spoke distinctly, "Mama, pity, pity, way up high," lifting her eyes and hands, gazing upward until she passed away in Jesus' arms, tries still to tell what she saw. Edith had a remarkable sweet disposition.

1899 "G. H. Hobart, Superintendent Kit Carson County — "I order at a venture thirty sets, and think that number can be sold. I shall be in attendance at the institute a large part of the time and will look after this matter personally." "

George is the Kit Carson County school superintendent in 1900, born April 1856 in New York, married ten years to Zella D. Oct 1867 Missouri. Tracy C. Sept 1896 and Mary Oct 1899 were born in Colorado.

George proved up a quarter in section 25, 8S 47W in 1901.



1907 Yuma Arizona "George H. Hobart, who arrived here about ten days ago, accompanied by his wife, made the Sentinel a friendly call last Saturday. Tey are in Yuma for the benefit of Mrs. Hobart's health and if the climate is beneficial will remain indefinely."

In 1910 Yuma, Arizona, George is a merchant, 54, Zella 46, Tracy 13, Mary 10, Henry 8, George 6. Zella's sister Mary E. Caldwell 55 born in Missouri, single is a teacher.
Also with them is George's sister Clara H. Salisbury 42 and her son Harold 15.

1914 Yuma "G. H. Hobart who for the past five weeks has been in the East and especially in New York state returned to Yuma last Monday afternoon"

Grizella Ann "Zella" (Caldwell) Hobart 1864-1934 is buried in Oakland # 74780737.

In 1940 George is in Grass Valley, 83, with daughter Mary Cox 40 born in Colorado and her husband Ervin J. Cox, a mechanic, 36 born in Oklahoma. Dorothy Mae Cox is 6, Joseph Lee 4, both born in California.

George 1857-1941 died in Nevada County, California, buried in Oakland # 74781201.

" C. E. Hobart of the Yuma valley has received word of the death in Grass Valley, Calif, on January 1, of his brother, George H. Hobart, 85, former Yuma valley resident. He had been ill several years. Mr. Hobart was widely known to the older citizens of Yuma, having come to Yuma in 1905 and engaged in the grocery business for several years. He spent his last years in Yuma district ranching, leaving here about seven years ago. He was a member of the first high school board here and was re-elected to that office. He also served several terms as school trustee at ?Cf ane and was a member of the Presbyterian church. He leaves three sons; Tracy, Henry and George of Oakland, California, and a daughter, Mary Cox of Grass Valley.
Funeral services are set for Saturday in Oakland, according to word received here. "

Henry Lester Hobart, born in Burlington Colorado June 22, 1901, died in Oakland, California June 15, 1985 # 74781504.

Mary (Hobart) Cox 1899-1983 is buried in Grass Valley # 98746413.

CHESTER'S SISTER CLARA

Clara cash-claimed a quarter in 25, 8S 47W in 1894.

Clara A. Hobart, 26, of Claremont, Kit Carson County, and Albert N. Salisbury, 28 of Ramah, Colorado, married in Claremont on January 10, 1894, witness L.C. Hobart.

Albert was in New York in 1880, with John and Mary Salisbury. John is buried in Oneida County 1828-1907 # 181874486. "
"When a young man he came to New York Mills, where he had resided for the past 60 years. He leaves four sons, George of Union City, Conn.; Rev. Charles of Salisbury Center, Herkimer county; Herbert G. of New York Mills, and Albert of Medicine, IA."

In 1900 Salt Lake County, A. N. Salisbury is a railroad agent, born Nov 1865 in New York, Clara Jan 1868 in New YOrk, married six years. Harold was born in Colorado June 1895.

The three are in Meridian, Ada County, Idaho in 1910, and in 1920 Albert is a wood retailer, 54, Clara H.l 52, and Harold A. 23.

Clara (Hobart) Salisbury, born Jan 3, 1867 in New York, died April 15, 1946 in Boise, Idaho.
Clara 1870-1946 and Albert N. 1865-1961 # 40990547 are buried in Meridian, Idaho.

Frank Hobart married Miriam A. Hazard in Boulder, Colorado on June 6, 1935.
In 1940 they're in Yuma, Arizona, Frank has a bulk oil station, and Miriam both 34 born in Colorado, William Hazard Hobart 5 and Jane 1 in Ariand Theodora eight months all three born in Arizona.

Frank is buried in Glendale, Arizona 1905-1985 # 123035524, with Miriam 1906-1975.

Lucy G. Hobart, 62, died in San Diego County August 11, 1973.

Anne Oliver, born Dec 17, 1902 in Ramah, Colorado to Chester E. Hobart and Jane Fyfe, died January 20, 2002.
Anne, 23, married Edgar E. Wilson on June 5, 1926 in Yuma Arizona.

She was in Sutter County, California in 1940, 37, married to Edgar E. Wilson, 44, with Jesse H. 12 and Denis Jane five months.
She's buried in Mesa, Arizona 1902-2002 # 30096812.
