ALBERT
December 28, 1911 "In the parlors of the Elk hotel on
Christmas evening occured the marriage
of Miss Mary M. Hardie and Mr. Albert J. Guthrie. The
nuptial ceremonies were witnessed beneath a large arch of
hollies and lilies, from which was suspended a large
wedding bell, with palms arranged for a background.
Promptly at 5:20 Miss Ruby Aten began playing
The Bridal Chorus Wedding March and Miss Tina Guthrie,
the bridesmaid and Mr. John Hardie, the groomsman,
took their places beneath the arch.
The groom next appeared followed by the bride,
who was led to the altar by her father.
The Rev. A. L. Day, of the Methodist Episcopal church,
pledged their faith other to other and so these
twain were made one. The bride was attired in an
elaborate satin wedding gown trimmed in pearls.
The maid wore a pink silk dress similar to the
bride's. The groom and is best man wore
the conventional black. After congratulations
had been extended by the relatives and
friends present the newly wed led the way to
the dining hall. The decorations here
were of ferns, holly, mistletoe and candles
while the abundant feast spread was worthy
the presence of kingly company.
Of feasts we have often feasted, but this
was the feastiest feast upon which we ever
feasted.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Hardie and is one of the
popular young ladies of the town.
The groosn is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Guthrie and is one of the young
business men of Burlington. Both
are well and favorably known and n
large circle of friends extend
congratulations.
