Carl A. and Mayme Dillon, 8 South 43 West



Carl's parents WILLIAM A. DILLON was born December 08, 1863 in Tazewell Co., Illinois, and died September 26, 1959.
He married ELLEN CHRISTINE DETWILER 1885 in Illinois, daughter of JOHANNES DETTWILER and MARIA STUCKLIN.
She was born March 02, 1868 in Wisconsin, and died December 16, 1928 in Cedar, Kansas."
CARL ALLEN DILLON was born January 08, 1888, and died May 18, 1957.He married MAYME THOMPSON January 23, 1914.She was born May 28, 1895, and died May 22, 1934.
Children of CARL DILLON and MAYME THOMPSON are:
i. KENNETH DUANE DILLON, b. August 31, 1915; d. April 29, 1968.
ii. DALE WILLIAM DILLON, b. June 03, 1918; m. JOSEFINA GONZALES, December 04, 1953; b. June 02, 1927.
iii. NORMA JEAN DILLON, b. October 06, 1924.
iv. JACK STANLEY DILLON, b. November 07, 1929.

Carl was living alone in 1910 Smith County, Kansas, farming.

Goodland, Kansas February 6, 1914 "solemnized at the Methodist parsonage when Rev. Miller united in the bonds of holy matrimony Miss Mayme Thompson and Carl A. Dillon. "

"At the Methodist church in Goodland, by Rev. Miller, Friday evening, January 23, Mamie Hartstine, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hartstine, to Carl Dillon, nephew of W. J. Detwiler of Kanorado, Kan. Those present at the ceremony being Mr. and Mrs. Hartstine, Sig. Thompson, and next of kin to the groom, Mrs. W. J. Detwiler. These young people are residents of Kanorado, the bride having lived here all her life and is known and respected by all in this community. The groom has been in this neighborhood but a short time, but sufficient, however, to be identified with the best people of the community. The young people, after a short visit at Kensington, with the groom's people, will return to Kanorado and reside on the homestead in Kit Carson county, Colo. All their friends and neighbors join in wishing them their share of the joys of life."

Carl Allen Dillon 1888-1957 is buried in Kanorado # 65492695, with Mayme (Thompson) Dillon 1895-1934.

Portland, Oregon:
Norma Jean "NJ" Harman was born Oct. 6, 1924, to Carl and Mayme Dillon in Goodland, Kan. After the death of her mother in 1933, NJ was raised by Will and Grace Detwiler. Upon graduating from Kanorado High School, she married Bill Samuell and had two daughters. They moved to Forest Grove in 1954. NJ worked at Pacific University. She and the girls moved to Beaverton in 1959 and NJ went to work for Tektronix. After leaving Tek, she worked for Wilbanks International where she retired after 22 years. NJ married Herman Berry in 1967. They traveled to Europe and Mexico. Herman was an excellent cook and NJ loved to entertain. NJ belonged to the McMinnville Grange and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. She is survived by her daughters, Sondra Gleason (Jim Kronenberg)and Judy Bissett (Bill); son, Chris Berry (Veronica); grandsons, Jeff Gleason, Samuell Eads and Casey Eads; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were husbands, Bill Samuell, Herman Berry and Don Harman; and granddaughter, Libby McNeil."
