Kit Carson County Pioneers:
Curtis W. Blakeslee, 8 South 43 West
Curtis cash-claimed a quarter in section 21, 8S 43W in 1891.
He might be the "Kurtis" Blakeslee, a factory fireman
in 1900 Crawford County, Pennsylvania,
born June 1864, married eleven years to Della July 1865,
with Murtie A. April 1893 adn Floyd July 1898, all born in Pennsylvania. Next to him are two other Blakesley families, Oliver 57 and Herbert 48, each married with children.
Curtis W. Blakeslee and Della Raisey married May 20, 1889 in Crawford County.
Curtis Wilmot Blakeslee is buried in Crawford County # 5969068.
"Services In Memory of C W Blakeslee -
Spartansburg, March 14 - Funeral services in memory
of C W Blakeslee were conducted from the M E church at
1 pm on Saturday. Rev W E Updegraff, pastor, officiating.
There was a large attendance of relatives and music for the servic
e was provided by Mrs C L Rexford and Mrs James Platt, who sang,
'Face to Face' and 'Some Happy Day,' Mrs Charles Martin serving as
accompanist. The interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery, the following
nephews of the deceased acting as pall-bearers: DeWayne and Lewis Rasey,
Writley and Morris Jackson, William King and Ralph Bennett.
Among those in attendance were the following from a distance:
Mrs C W Blakeslee, the widow, Mr and Mrs Asa Reese and children
and Mr and Mrs Floyd Blakeslee and baby, all of Portville, NY;
Mr and Mrs W E Blakeslee of Erie; Dalton Blakeslee of Canisteo, NY;
Mrs Eva Pastorius, Mr and Mrs William King, Mr and Mrs S McGinnett,
Mr and Mrs Harry Oviatt, Mrs Mary Blakeslee,
Ralph and William Bennett of Titusville; C A Jackson of Kane;
Mr and Mrs E A Rasey, Mr and Mrs W J Smith and daughter, Irene,
Mr and Mrs John Jordan of Corry; Miss Elizabeth Jones of Salamanca, NY.
Curtis Wilmot Blakeslee was born at Hatchtown, Sparta township,
on January 6, 1864, and passed away at his home in Portville, NY,
on March 10, 1926, aged 62 years, 2 months and 4 days. He had been
ill for several months with heart trouble, but had been able to be
about among his friends until just a day or two before his passing.
He was a son of William D and Chloe A Blakeslee.
There were eleven children in the family, ten of whom grew
to maturity.
The deceased was united in marriage with
Miss Dell G Rasey on May 20, 1888, and to them were born three
children, Mertie and Gertie, twin daughters, the latter only
surviving a few months, and a son, Floyd. He was a kind and
loving husband and father, with many friends who will miss
his cheery word and jovial smile."

"Former Spartansburg Woman Dies in Salamanca - Mrs Della Rasey Blakeslee,
aged 76, widow of Curtis Blakeslee, died yesterday at the home of her son,
Floyd Blakeslee, in Salamanca, NY. She was born and spent her early life
in the Spartansburg community and will be remembered by many. Her husband
died about 15 years ago. Besides the son, she leaves a daughter,
Mrs Myrtle Rees of Smethport, and a brother, Ernest Rasey of Corry.
The body will be brought to the Torrey funeral home in Spartansburg
where services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday. Interment will be
beside the husband in Rose Hill cemetery."

"Funeral of Mrs Della Blakeslee - Funeral services of Mrs Della Rasey Blakeslee,
whose body was brought here from Salamanca, NY, on Tuesday afternoon,
were held at Torrey's funeral home with Rev W W Conley officiating.
Grandsons of the deceased acted as pall-bearers and interment was made
in the Blakeslee family plot at Rose Hill cemetery. Those attending
from a distance were: Mr and Mrs Reese and family of Smethport;
Mr and Mrs Floyd Blakeslee and family of Salamanca, NY; Mrs Eva Barbour,
Mrs Harry Oviatt, Mrs William Smith of Titusville; Mrs Mary Blakeslee,
Eugene Blakeslee, Mr and Mrs Henry Ward of Youngsville;
Mr and Mrs Clarence Jackson, Edinboro."
