Francis A. and Martha E. (O'Daniels) Barge, 8 South 43 West



FRANCIS' FAMILY

John H. Barge and Matilda Barlow had W. C. Barge in Boone County, Kentucky in June 1852.
Matilda's parents might be Joshua Barlow 1795-1857, wife Neoma dying 1849 aged 54 years, also in the Barnard cemetery, Boone County.
There's a Matilda Barlow in the 1850 census, age 30.
Laura Barge, born May 1, 1857, dying June 10, 1858 is buried in Barnard Cemetery, Boone County.

In 1870 Fulton County, Illinois, John Barge is a farmer, 40, born in Hanover, Germany with Catherine 45 Kentucky.
William is 18, Joshua 16, Albert 9, Matilda 15, and Bruce 8, all born in Kentucky, with Francis 4 in Illinois.

In 1880 Pettis County, Missouri, J. H. Barge is farming, 51, Catherine 55. William 27, Joshua 25, and Albert 19 are farming. Lucinda is 17, Frank 14.

Matilda died in Pettis County, Missouri 1825-1881, buried in Sedalia # 22335252.

John Henry Barge, dying in Kentucky, is buried in Pettis County 1828-1901 # 22335250.
"John Henry Barge was living in Bullitsville, Boone county, Kentucky at the time of his death. He had remarried in 1891 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Regina Tischbein of Cincinnati who was born in Germany. His death certificate issued in the City of Covington, Ky indicated he was to be buried in Pettis County, Missouri."

So is Joshua, dying in 1889.
July 1932 Sedalia "Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Barge, 77 years old, widow of the late Joshua C. Barge, who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. W. Rodgers, 203 East Seventh street, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Gillespie Funeral Home with the Rev. E. D. Baker, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, South, officiating. Friends who will serve as pallbearers are E. W. Hoehns, J. Q. Adams, T. Cole, C. D. Warren, C. A. O'Bannon and E. B. Helman. Burial will be in the McGee Chapel cemetery. "
"Mrs. Barge, the widow of the late Joshua C. Barge, was born in Pike County, Ohio, May 23, 1855, and came to Sedalia to reside March 7, 1870. She was married to Mr. Barge at McGee Chapel September 17, 1882. Mr. Barge passed away in October. 1889. Mrs. Barge was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and of Women's Benefit. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Mary Allred of Wichita, Kas., and a son, Clyde Barge, of 821 West Eleventh street. A son, Harry Barge, passed away fifteen years ago. Her sister. Mrs. Rodgers, with whom she made her home for more than twelve years, two brothers, M. E. Rhoads of Sedalia and J. A. Rhoads of Las Vegas, Nevada. Seven grand-children, two residing in Wichita and five in Sedalia also survive. The body was removed to the Gillespie Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 O o'clock Sunday afternoon at the funeral home, special permission being granted for services there owing to inability of relatives from a distance to arrive sooner. "


MARTHA'S FAMILY

Hugh O'Daniel was born November 8, 1827 in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania to Daniel and Elizabeth O'Daniel.

In 1875 Reno County, Kansas, H. O'Daniels is 48, J.C. 33. F. J. 16, M. A. 15, M.E. 10, E.W. 8, W.G 21, Laura 3, adn R.W one month.

In 1880 Reno County, Hugh O'Daniels is farming, 52, born in Pennsylvania, Julia E. 39, G W. 26 is farming, Gussie 19, Ella 15, E.W. 13 - all born in Illinois, Larah E. 8 in Missouri, Kirk W. 5 and Burt W. 3 in Kansas. Hugh's brother Dennis 66 is also farming with them.

FRANK AND MARTHA

Francis claimed a quarter in section 23, 8S 43W in 1890.
In 1900 El Paso County, Colorado, Frank Barge- "Baye" in the index - is a farm laborer, born July 1865, married 13 years to Martha E. March 1865, both born in Illinois. Myrtle July 1889 was born in Colorado, Clifton C. July 1890 in Missouri, Maude L. Mar 1898 and Jennings B. Feb 1900 were born in COlorado.

In 1910 Lamar, Colorado, Frank Barge is a railroad bridge foreman, 44, born in Missouri, married 21 years to Martha E. 45 born in Illinois. Lucille 12 and Jimmie 10 were born in Colorado.

Martha 1865-1910 is buried in Lamar, Colorado # 54419052.

Frank A. Barge married Martha E. King on Dec 17, 1911 in La Junta.

In 1920 Granada, Colorado, Frank is a stationary engineer for a railroad, 54, now married to Martha E. 41 born in Missouri.
Leona M. King, 14, born in Colorado, is Martha's daughter.
Her father Silas King had died about 1908. Leona married Rolland M. Knobbs in Prowers County, and in 1930 are in Pueblo. Rolland M. Knobbs is 30, Leona 24, Betty Gay 6, Morlan A. 4, and Barbara C. 2.

Charlotte K. Mantelli, 66, died December 15, 2005, in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born February 14, 1939 in Pueblo to Rolland and Leona (King) Knobbs. She graduated from Trinidad High School.
On September 19, 1956, she was united in marriage to Edward Mantelli. The pair had two children, Keith and Wanda. Charlotte was a wonderful homemaker. She especially liked to go to Cripple Creek. Bowling was her passion for over 40 years and she served as president of the Trinidad Women?s Bowling Association for 14 years, and was the secretary of the Channel Dusters league. She was active as a Sayre Center board member. She was extremely involved in the activities of her granddaughters. She loved the Denver Broncos. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Morlan Knobbs; and sister Barbara Barto. She is survived by her husband Edward of the family home; son Keith (Jennifer); and daughter Wanda (Fred) Sola, all of Trinidad; granddaughters, Danielle and Kaitlyn Mantelli; brother Warren (RoseAnn) Knobbs, Colorado Springs; sisters, Betty Mangino, Trinidad, and Beverly (Cline) Dragoo, Fort Collins; brother-in-law Robert (Roberta) Mantelli, Trinidad; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte also leaves many friends. At Charlotte?s request, no services will be held.

December 1939 "Mrs. Martha Barge left Tuesday for Dodge City, Kansas, where she was called by the serious illness of her step-son, Brown Barge."

In 1940 Martha is 62, widowed, living with daughter Leona Knobbs 34 in Pueblo, Colorado. Rolland is 40, Betty G. 16, Morlan A. 14, Barbara 12, Beverly 5, and Charlotte 1.

Martha died January 1953, in Trinidad, Colorado per one tree.

MYRTLE

Myrtle Ethel Barge was born in Colorado on July 28, 1887, to Frank A. Barge and Martha Ellen O'Daniels.
She married Clarence Laser on May 16, 1907 in La Junta, Colorado.


She died as Myrtle Laser on September 15, 1974 in New Carlisle, Indiana, to be buried in Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, Indiana.
Mrs. Oscar Schelstraete, daughter, was the informant.
Myrtle 1888-1974 is buried in Bremen # 119129904, with Clarence D. Laser 1883-1957.

JENNINGS

Jennings was born Feb 2, 1900 at Fountain, Colorado.
He's a farm laborer in 1920 Prowers County, and in 1930 is in Gray County, Kansas, a laborer in an implement shop, 30, born in Colorado, with Doris R. 23, Oswald T. 4, and newborn Ramona all born in Kansas.

In 1940 Dodge City, he's a land appraiser, and they have only the two kids.

Jennings "Doc" Barge died May 24, 1992 at Fort Peirre South Dakota, to be buried in Omaha.
Doris R. Barge, born Nov 14, 1906, died March 3, 1998.

LUCILLE

Lucille married Douglas Sherman on September 8, 1920 in Yavapai, Arizona.

Lucille M. Schultz born March 5, 1898 in Colorado, died in San Diego County April 26, 1966.
She was a nurse in the Army Corps in WWI, enlisting Sept 30, 1918, buried at Flt. Rosecrans National, San Diego.
