August 1912 Glenwood Springs "The horse driven to the delivery wagon of the Hampson Bros. and Valdez became frightened at an automobile one day last week, ran away, smashed the wagon, smashed John Stotts, the driver, to some extent when he fell from the wagon, and then wound up by smashing a fence which happened to be in the way."

August 1919 Rifle "John Stotts and brother, Floyd of Meleer, Iowa, accompanied by Vern Knapp and Charlie Stotts, departed Tuesday afternoon for a week's camping and fishing trip at Trappers Lake, in the White River country. All of the crowd are experienced fishermen, so it is safe to say the fish will suffer while they are out."

Rifle, June 29, 1916 "With the arrival this evening from Salt Lake City, over the Midland trail, of a dust-covered flivver, came the first authentic news of the wedding of Mrs. Chester K. Hampson and Charles Stotts, both of this city. The bride is the widow of Chester K. Hampson, former prominent merchant of Rifle and brother of T. J. Hampson of Grand Junction and Leander Hampson of Salida. Bhe is the mother of four children. Mr. Hampson died in May, 1915.
The marriage was objected to by the father of the groom, who is but 19, but it took the form of practically an elopement. The bride is 28 years old and is a splendid woman, Mrs. Hampson had been working in the store some time before the wedding, and the friendsbip ripened into the deeper ties. Mr. Stotts has been employed in the store of Hampson Bros. & Valdez for the past three years and is a young man of many sterling qualities.
Mr. Stotts left for Salt Lake City ten days ago, ostensibly for the purpose of bringing back to this city a car belonging here. However, when Mrs. Hampson was seen to board the same train, it was believed Dan Cupid had taken a hand in the game. And such proved to be the case, as they were quietly married in the Mormon capital the next day. After the wedding Mr. Stotts and his bride started on the return trip to Rifle over the Midland trail, and report a very pleasant journey over that famous route. The happy couple will live in the handsome home of the bride on Fourth street, and many friends will wish them many years of happiness."

August 1920 Rifle, Colorado "When Charles Stotts arrived in Rifle yesterday from his extended trip, he was accompanied by Walter Stotts, brother of John Stotts of this town, and will make an extended visit with friends and relatives here. Mr. Stotts was one of the first to answer the over-seas call in the late war, being connected with the 13th Railroad Engineers."
