"The, died of Mrs. Sarah Jane Lundy at her home six miles east of Elbert, on Sunday, Dec. 23, came as a shock to the people of this community. Mrs. Lundy passed away at 12 o'clock noon, having been bedfast for two weeks during her last illness. The immediate cause of her, died was pneumonia, which followed a serious attack of heart trouble and other ailments.
Sarah June King was born in Evansville, Indiana, April 21, 1847. She was married to John H. Lundy on April 8, 1880, in Colorado Springs. Shortly thereafter, they moved to a ranch six miles east of Elbert, where, she had resided continuously until , died claimed her. Mrs Lundy was a most estimable woman and enjoyed the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends and acquaintances throughout the county. In her home, where her life shown brightest, and by mnny intimate friends, she will be greatly missed. Her, died is greatly deplored, and her taking away is a distinct loss to the community.
She leaves a devoted husband of 26 years of loving fellowship, who is almost prostrated by this great bereavement, one daughter, Mrs. Ella Epler, and four sons, Edward, Harry, George and Glen, who have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their affliction. All the members of the family were with her during her last moments. A sister arrived Monday evening in time for the funeral.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 10 o’clock at the home and were conducted by Rev. J. W. Pressly of the Presbyterian church, who spoke very feelingly of the life of the deceased. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, the casket being almost entirely covered with flowers. At the conclusion of the services at the home, the remains, followed by a large number of sympathising friends and neighbors, were brought to Elbert and interred in Elbert cemetery. At the cemetery the local order of the Rebekahs, of which organization the deceased was an honored member, had charge of the services and the solemn and impressive burial service of the order was read, after which the earthly remains of the departed sister were consigned to the silent tomb."

"Mrs. H. O. Shoesmith of North Branch, Iowa, youngest sister of the late Mrs. J. H. Lundy, arrived just in time for the funeral of her sister. She had not seen Mrs. Lundy for 22 years, and this was surely a sad meeting. She will spend several days with the family."

January 1907 "Card of Thanks.
We desire to express our heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to all friends and neighbors who so kindly rendered their help and sympathy in our late bereavement; also to the I. O. O. F. and Rebekahs for the beautiful flowers contributed.
