June 12, 1944 Hastings, Nebraska "Edwin Hubbard,
who saw wheat prices fluctuate from a low of 25 cents a bushel
to the best prices - to a high of $2.15 during his long career
as manager of the Juniata Grain and Livestock Association,
died Saturday at his home in Juniata following a lingering illness.
A pioneer resident of Juniata, Ed managed the association for
42 years, retiring March 1, 1940.
Born December 27, 1862 at Marseilles, Illionois,
he came to Juniata in 1883. The association was organized in 1897
and he was the first elected president, later becoming manager.
Hubbard served one year, 1913, in in the state legislature.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Beth Wiltrout
and Mrs. Agnes Pease, both of Juniata: nine grandchildren and five
great grandchildren. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2 Tuesday afternoon at the Juniata Baptist Church.
Burial will be at the Juniata cemetery.
The body will be here at the Livinpton Brothers Funeral home
until time for the services Tuesday. "
