1914 Delta, Colorado " Mrs. G. M. Hall and family of Rocky Ford arrived here the first of the
week and will visit awhile with her brother, Milo Reynolds of Rogers mesa. (Probably brother-in-law)
They came through in an automobile and are on their way to Twin Falls, Idaho, where they
will join Mr. Hall and make their home."
"According to news made public yesterday the Arkansas Valley will shortly loose its best posted irrigationists, the Arkansas Valley Fair association its first and only secretary and this city an influential citizen all in the person of one man G. M. Hall who has accepted a responsible position with one of the largest irrigation projects in Idaho the Salmon River Irrigation Co. of the Twin Falls country and will leave to assume his new position as soon as he can arrange his affairs. Nearly a quarter of a century ago Gilbert M. Hall came to Rocky Ford and assumed the positions of superintendent and secretary of the Rocky Ford Canal, Reservoir, Land. Loan and Trust Co. (commonly known as the High Line Ditch Co.) which dual position he occupied until a few months ago, when he accepted the more lucrative job of general manager of the Holbrook Irrigation District. He was rapidly getting affairs in shape for the Holbrook people when a very flattering offer was received from the Salmon River company to take charge of their irrigation system in the Twin Falls country. This new position allows Mr. Hall full scope for his executive and constructive ability, and so after careful deliberation he accepted the offer and has given the Holbrook people notice to get a man for his old job as soon as possible. Not only as an irrigation expertâ€in which capacity he was recognized as one of the best jxisted men in the West but as a citizen who has always been identified with the best interests of Rocky Ford will G. M. Hall be greatly missed, but we realize that he has outgrown his Arkansas Valley environment and with the best grace at our command wish him the success to which he is entitled in the broader field to which he goes."

November 1934 Pueblo "John Shosky, proprietor of the Shosky Tavern here, has been named the defendant in a damage suit in the Pueblo district court filed by Norton Bean,
asking for $1,547. together with examplary
damages of $1000. The suit is the result of an
accident on the Pueblo road about
five Miles south of Pueblo last November 16.
Bean claims disability to continue his farming
work because of an injured thigh. According to the
complaint Bean had alighted from the car in
which he was riding, driven by A. C. Grandbouche,
to aid in quieting an unruly horse, which was being
transported in a trailer attached to the
automobile. The car and the trailer, according to
the complaint, were headed south and had stopped
on the right side of the highway, nearly off the
pavement. Shosky’s car, traveling in the opposite
direction, is alleged to have struck Bean.
In a statement today, Shosky said that the suit
was absurd. He claims that the horse kicked Bean
into the side of his car, and that he and his wife
were the first tc the injured man’s side,
showing how slow they were going. He has
retained Romilly Foote, local attorney, to defend
him."

May 1919 Pueblo "James Livesey, who recently sold his ranch to M. C. Johnson, leaves for England the first of the week. He expects to be gone about three months."
1921 Pueblo "The well known Livesey ranch, nine miles west of this city,
will become a state penitentiary farm within the next 24 hours, according to statements of creditable
citizens of Pueblo, made yesterday. It was given out that the agreements are all made,
and tuat it is expected the deeds conveying tho property to the state will reach the office
of the Pueblo county clerk today.
In this ranch there are 2,300 acres. 600 of which are under irrigation with a Bessemer ditch right
dated 1866 and exempt forever from ditch company assessments because of arrangements
the original owner mado with the ditch company at the time the intake was constructed on the property.
Both tho Rio Grande and tho Santa Fo railways run thru the ranch and there are flag stations there;
also there is a main highway leading thru the ranch from Pueblo to Canon City and other points.
Besides the 600 acres of fine farming lands there are 1700 acres of grazing land, much of which can be
made into beautiful foothills parks. It is considered an ideal for a state farm, and a wonderful bargain at
$35,000.
a fine boulevard will be built, it is suggested, all the way from the penitentiary at Canon City to
the ranch and then on to Pueblo. A number of convicts are already on the farm, and with the transfer
of title it is supposed that a large number will be stationed there.
Several years ago the ranch was bought by Morris Johnson of this city from James Livesey,
who some time thereafter returned to his childhood home in England. Some time later Mr. Johnson
sold the property to a cattle company, which failed to make good on account of the sudden decline in the price of livestock; It then reverted to Mr. Johnson who sold It to Walter H.
Evens of Jefferson county. Mr. Johnson was yesterday asked for confirmation of the deal with the state,
with which it was said he was familiar, and he replied that it had not yet actually been all closed up,
but did not deny the statement made by others familiar with the state transaction, that the agreement
with the state officials is perfected and that they looked for right away for record in this county.
land known as tha ranch is described in tracts located in sections 34, 36. in twp. ?? ??, ??
in twp. 21;
9. 12. 13 in twp. 21; 34 in twp. 20, all in range 66.
This ranch will furnish the state almost ns many irrigated acres as did the Avondale section sold to private parties several years ago, but It will furnish almost four times as many Also It is sufficiently isolated to he of no objection to neighbors as was the case at Avondale. and that those In rharre of it will not be hampered by surroundings.
Further it will have the perfect transportation facilities at its command, and is conveniently located geographically between the penitentiary and the metropolis of southern Colorado"
