Martin and Mary Winkel, 7 South 51 West



In 1900 Wood County, Ohio, Martin Winkle is a day laborer, born Oct 1866, married twelve years to Mary born January 1868, both born in Poland. She's had seven kids, four living. Walter April 1890 was born in Poland, Adam Sept 1892, Mike Sept 1893, and John Jan 1896 were born in Ohio.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Martin "Winker" is farming, 43, born in Germany, with Mary 43 in Germany. She's had eight kids, five living. George 20 was born in Germany, Adam 19, Mike 16, and John 13 were born in Ohio, Joe 6 in Washington.

Martin and Mary are farming in 1911 Grays Harbor, Washington, living at 2612 Pacific Avenue. Adam, George, and Michael are with them, laborers.

THE STATE OP WASHINGTON, To the above named defendant Martin Winkle:
IN THE NAME OP THE STATE OF WASHINGTON, You are hereby summoned to appear within sixty (60) days after the date of the first publication of this summons, to-wit: Within sixty (60) days after the 26th day of September, A. D„ 1913, and defend the above entitled action in he court aforesaid, and serve a copy of your answer or other pleading upon the undersigned attorney for plaintiff at his office below stated, and in case of your failure so to do, judgment will be rendered against you according to the demand of the complaint which has been filed with the clerk of the above entitled court.
The object of this action is to obtain a decree of absolute divorce, upon the grounds of abandonment and non-support, and to obtain a decree awarding Lot nine (9) In Block fiftythree (53) Ontario Addition to the City of Hoqulam, and other lands in the State of Colorado, to the plaintiff herein. "

In 1920 they're in Grays Harbor County, Washington, Mary divorced, immigrating in 1905, with George 27, Adam 25, and Mike 23 shingle weavers, Joseph 17 a delivery boy.

Mary is widowed in 1930 Hoquiam, 57, with Adam 34 and Mike 32, both born in Ohio. Andrew Gozelanski is a lodger, 47, born in Poland.

In 1940 Hoquiam, Marie is widoweed, 68, sons Adam 46 and Michael 45 both working at a shingle factory.

ADAM

Adam registered for WWII in Hoquiam, living with mothr Mary at 2612 Pacific. He's still working for the East Hoquiam Shingle Company on 14th Street, born Sept 9, 1893 in Toledo, Ohio.
Adam Winkle, age 93, died in Grays Harbon on October 15, 1984.


JOSEPH

In 1930 Hoquiam, Joseph Winkel is 28, Marie 30, Clayton 5, and Jean 3, all born in Washington.

Joseph R. Winkle and Marie A. Formella had Clayton Russell Winkle. Clayton, 17, married in Aberdeen Washington on August 21, 1942.

Joseph died in Aberdeen, Washington on Dec 14, 1966.

GEORGE

In 1930 Hoquiam George is 36, born in Germany, Evelyn 30 in Minnesota, Leo T. 8, Albert W. 5, and Martin J. 1 born in Washington

In 1870 Logan County, Illinois, Peter Winkle is 45, Dolly A. 41, Michael 20, George W. 19, Sarah C. 17, Elizabeth J. 15, Joseph 11, MARTIN V. 9, Robert 6, Peter 4, and Olive A. 2.

In 1880 Sumner County, Kansas, Peter Winkle is farming, 54, Dorothea 51, Michael 31, eore W. 28, Joseph 21, MARTIN 18, Albert 16, Peter 14, and Olive 11.

Martin is a railroad laborer in Mulvane, Kansas in 1900, born Sept 1862 in Ohio, married 16 years to Jennie E. April 1865 in Germany. Arthur C. Jan 1885 and Lester C. Oct 1886 wre born in Kansas. They're next to brother Michael Sept 1847 and his family.

Martin and Jennie are farming in Butler County, Kansas in 1910, with Clifford P. 23.

Martin claimed a quarter in section 31, 7S 51W in 1914.


In 1920 Butler County, Martin is 57, Jennie E. 54 saying she was born in Switcerland of German ancestry, with Clifford 33.

Jennie E. Winkle 1865-1922, # 53317708, is buried in Butler County # 53317708.

Martin, dying Nov 2, 1937 is buried next to Jennie # 133196661.
Clifford is also buried there, 1892-1933.

Arthur C. Winkle is farming in 1910 in Woods County, Oklahoma, 25, with Myrtle M. 24 and Nina A. 1.

They're in Wichita, Kansas in 1913, living on Fannie Avenue.

They're in Bernalillo County, New Mexico in 1920, Arthur 35, Minnie 34, Nina 10, and Harold A. 8.

In 1925 Stafford County, Kansas, Arthur is 40, Minnie M. 39, Nina 16, Harold 13, and Billy Miles Winkle 2.

In 1930 Sedgwick County, Kansas, Arthur is 45, Nina A. 21, Harold M. 18, and William M. 7.

In 1940 El Paso, Texas, Arthur is 55, living with son Harold M. 28, Winona J. 26, Janet L. 6, Carol F. 4, Betty Ann 3,a nd Weldon P. 1.
Billy M. Winkle 17 is also with them.

"Harold Martin (Perry) Winkle went to his eternal Home in Heaven on Friday, March 9, 2012. He was born June 13, 1911 to Arthur and Myrtle Winkle in Kingman County, Kansas. He graduated from Derby High School in 1929 and attended Kansas Wesleyan University on a music scholarship, but majored in math.
Perry was married to Winona West on April 2, 1933. The Winkles lived in Kansas and Colorado before moving to Bellevue, Washington in 1941. His entire career was in the automotive industry.
Perry was a devoted churchman and served as minister of music, taught Sunday school, served as church treasurer and impacted the lives of thousands of people.
Following the death of Winona, Perry married Evelyn Beech on June 24, 1977. In 1988 they moved to Boise and later to Nampa. The Winkles have lived at Karcher Estates for the past three years.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters, Caril (Ed) Crawford, Betty (Duane) Yuly, Sue (Del) Wiedmeier, Mert (Sandie) Winkle; Byron Clark, son-in-law; and Mary Winkle, daughter-in-law. He leaves 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nina; brother, Bill, and his wife, Winona; daughter, Janet Clark; son, Weldon Perry Winkle; and two grandchildren, Robert Clark and Katy Neil. "

Joseph is a laborer in 1910 Boulder, 47, Laura 40, Edna 19, Agnes 17, Frank 14, Mollie 12, Iva 10, Eva 8, Ida 5, and Virgil 3.

Joseph is buried in Craig, Colorado 1861-1929 # 30502442, with Laura Bell Winkle 1870-1926.

" Laura Belle Winkle, wife of Joseph W. Winkle, died in Craig Saturday of heart disease at the age of 56. She was born in Keokuk, Iowa, and lived in Iowa until 1926?? when the family came to Akron, Colo. They lived in Akron for 12 years and in Boulder for 16 years. Mr and Mrs. Winkle came to Craig in June of last year to make their home with their sons, Frank J. and Vergyl E. Winkle.
In addition to the two sons, and her husband. Mrs. Winkle is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Ollie B. Gill of Brush, Mrs. Agnes Keidel of Los Angeles, Mrs. Iva B. Wright of Bear River, Mrs. Eva M. Seaman of Craig, Mrs. Ida G. Wallace of Boulder and Mrs. Mollie V. Pratt of Baldwin Park, Calif., a father, two sisters, three brothers and twentyfour grandchildren. Mrs. Winkle was baptized in the Christian faith In 1889. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the Baptist church. Interment was in the Craig cemetery."

"Joseph W. Winkle, 68, died Monday at the home of his son. Prank Winkle, G miles west of Craig. Paralysis was the cause of death. Mr. Winkle was born in Ohio on May 30. 1861. Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Baptist church."

Virgil Edward Winkle registered for WWII in BOulder, married to Darline May Winkle, born Dec 9, 1908 at Akron, Colorado.
He died in Los Angeles County Oct 22, 1982, mother's maiden name Sturdevan.
