"Nahum Ward Gibbs was born in Noble county,
Ohio, December 25, 1843 and died at his home
near Glade Monday, October 4, 1912 having come
....age of 69 yra, 9 mo., and 9 days. Moving to Illinois in an early day he was a pioneer in that state from where in August before he was 18 years old he enlisted in the service of his country in Company B, 40th Illinois regiment but because of service through all the conflict was honorably discharged. During his service in the army he was convicted for sin by the pleadings of a dying comrade for some one to pray
. In 1897 he united in marriage to Mary L. Stu-bert, who has walked by his side down toward the sun set of life. She with the sons and daughters already mentioned, twelve grandchildren and ore brother, Dudley Gibbs, of Webster ar.d one sister, Susan Embree, of Iowa, Bartlet Stubert a step-son and a host of people who know and love him mourn his departure yet joy in the thought that he was ready for the summons. A life well spent. The funeral services were held Sunday, October 6th at 2:30 p. m. at the Glade Methodist church of which he had been active worker and member from the early history of its founding in the little log school house to that noon when God said, "It is enough come up higher." Sermon by his pastor from Gen. 5:24. There was a large crowd accompanied the remains to the Glade cemetery, where the last service of the church and also of the comrades in blue. "

She moved with her parents to Richmond, Ohio, in 18??. She came to Kirwin, Kansas in
1881. In 1884 she was married to J. Dudley Gibbs. To this union were born seven children"
left to mourn her loss, except one, who died in infancy.
Those left beside the husband are Ernest Gibbs, of Fullerton, California,
Albert, Ellsworth, Everett and Ethel, of Haxtun, Colorado,
Maria Dorsey, of Flagler, Colorado, and V. F. Gibbs,
of Kanorado, Kansas. Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Moore,
of Richwood, Ohio, and Mrs. Hattie Warren, of Erie, Kansas,
and three brothers, Charles, Edward and John Quanz, of Phillips county, and twelve grandchildren.
She was a kind and faithful companion and a loving thoughtful mother. Through all the weeks and months of intense suffering she was ever patient and gentle, always considering the comfort of others. Her Christian life was positive, modest and beautiful. Her body was laid to rest in the Glade cemottry beside loved ones, but her soul passed on to the God whom she had loved anil served for so many veal's. "
"Jonathan Dudley GIBBS was born Aug. 24, 1853 in Zanesville, Ohio, and died in Phillipsburg, Kansas on March 20, 1922. When a boy he moved to Kinmundy with his parents, and when a young man he went to Kansas locating in Phillips county near Glade. He married Rebecca WORLY who died when their child, Frank GIBBS, now of Kanarado, Kansas, was just a baby. He married second to Maria QUANZ, who died Jan. 16, 1921, and they had 7 children: 1 dying in infancy, Ernest of Fullerton, Cal., Laura DORSEY of Flagler, Colo., and Elsworth, Albert, Ethel and Ernest at the home at Fleming, Colo. Three years ago he moved to Haxtum, Colo., but moved back to Phillipsburg on account of his health. The funeral was held at Glade with interment in Glade Cemetery."

She's the cousin of Charles Dorsey, who married Laura Gibbs, Ernest's sister.
Ernest is farming in 1900 Rooks County, Kansas, 26, with Ethel A. 19 and Cora E. newborn.
Cora 1910-1918 died in California, and is buried in Fullerton # 106637996.
In 1920 Orange County, California, Earnest is 34, no occupation, with Ethel 28, Estha 7, all three born in Kansas, Frances 5, Franklin 3 and Aneta 1 bo, all three born in California.

Edna, born March 10, 1919, died in Santa Cruz County June 8, 1980.
" Services will be Wednesday for Edna Lucille Zannoni, a native Californian, who died Sunday in Santa Cruz. She was 61. She was born in Nuevo and she had lived in Santa Cruz for the past 19 years. She had been employed at Plantronics for 17 years, and she was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles AERIE 460 of Santa Cruz. Survivors include two sons, Norman Forgey of Soquel and Frank Forgey of Penryn; two daughters, Susie Dallas and Sally Grever, both of Santa Cruz; a brother, Franklin Gibbs, also of Santa Cruz; three sisters, Elpha Monroe of Norwalk, Frances Grey of Woodland and Thelma Bywater of Atascadero; and numerous grandchildren. Her husband, Marcel B. Zannoni, died in 1978. Funeral services will be at Arnold's Funeral Home, 1902 Ocean St. Extension, Wednesday at 1 p.m. Interment will . be at Oakwood Memorial Park"

EVERETT
"Minnie Carrie Biggs, daughter of Jacob C. and Carrie Kaepernick Becker was born August 17, 1902 on a farm southwest of Haxtun Logan County in the Rockland community. She attended school at the Rockland School.
She married Everett Gibbs at Leroy on March 12, 1924. They started farming in the Rockland community and moved to a farm south of Haxtun in 1942 where they have continued to live since that time.
Mrs. Gibbs was a member of the Rockland Church, United Methodist Women, Sunshine Circle and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband Everett of Haxtun; three sons, Lavern of Holyoke, Howard of Haxtun, Glenn J. of Julesburg; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Delores) Merrill of Paoli, Oklahoma, Mrs. Bill (Marlys) Kain of Haxtun, Mrs. Douglas (Donna) Schulz of Las Lunas, New Mexico, Junice Gibbs of Neurenberg, Germany; one brother, Edwin Becker of Fleming; one sister Mrs. Roland (Dorothy) Baker of Aurora; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gibbs died Sunday, August 5, 1984 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 8 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Haxtun with Rev. Inez Prather officiating with burial following in the Haxtun Cemetery. "
ELLSWORTH

Ellsworth Gibbs, 35, and Bertha Becker married
in Fleming, Logan County, Colorado on April 1, 1925.
In 1930 Rockland precinct, Logan County, Ellsworth is farming, 41, born iKansas, Bertha 25 inDarrell E. 3, and Melvin J. 1, all three born in Colorado. Bertha's sister Dorothy Becker, 13, also born in Colorado, is with them.
Ellsworth is buried in Haxtun, Colorado 1889-1957 # 45612895.
ALBERT
Albert E. Gibbs, who married Gertrude Becker in Logan County, Colorado on April 6, 1921,,
is buried in Walla Walla Washington # 78221570.
Gertrude is buried in Haxtun, Colorado 1903-1988 # 58567760.
ETHEL
Ethel Lenora Gibbs and L. Clay Chamblin married in Logan County, Colorado on April 9, 1924.
She's buried in Haxtun 1895-1988 # 58733531.
Final rites for Ethel L. Chamblin, 93, of Haxtun were conducted Monday fron the Haxtun United Methodist Church, the Rev. Jim Davis and Rev. Eloise Saltzgaver officiating. Burial followed in the Haxtun Cemetery.
Mrs. Chamblin died Thursday Nov. 10, 1988 at the Haxtun Hospital.
She was born July 27, 1895 in Philips County, Kansas,
the daughter of J.D. and Mariah Quanz Gibbs, raised on a farm in Logan County,
Kansas, until moving with her family to Colorado in 1919, first to Flagler
then to Haxtun where they farmed in the Rockland community.
In 1924 she married Clay Chamblin in Fleming. The couple continued to farm in the Rockland area, thence north of Dailey until moving to Flagler where they lived until returning to the Haxtun area in 1941.
They retired from farming in 1947 and they operated the Clarkville Grocery Store until closing the firm in 1961 and moving to Haxtun. Mr Chamblin died in 1974 and Mrs. Chamblin continued to live in Haxtun. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's and Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Fetrzer, and Ida Mae Wisdom both of Haxtun and Arlene Roth of Craig: a brother Everett Gibbs of Haxtun: 10 grandchildren: and 15 great grand children. Thompson Mortuary, Haxtun was in charge of arrangements.
Everett E. Gibbs 1898-1990 is buried in Haxtun # 58548774, with Minnie Carrie (Becker( Gibbs 1902-1984.
LaVerne Everett Gibbs was born June 21, 1924 to Everett and Minnie (Becker) Gibbs in Fleming. He died January 12, 2011 at Devonshire Acres in Sterling.
He attended Rockland Grade School and graduated from Dailey High School. He married Mae Ola Cunningham on September 8, 1946 at the home of her parents southeast of Haxtun. To this union three children were born: Gary, Sharon and Debbie. Mae Ola died January 12, 1992.
LaVerne farmed south of Haxtun until 1979 when he and his wife moved to a country home in Holyoke. After he retired, he delivered cars for Baldwin Chevrolet for several years. LaVerne moved into Holyoke after Mae Ola died.
LaVerne served in the United States Marine Corps from 1944 until 1946. He served as a corporal in the First Separation Company MCB.
He was a very active member of Holyoke VFW and American Legion. He served as commander of both Haxtun and Holyoke American Legion and commander of Holyoke VFW. He was District Commander of American Legion. He was a member of United Methodist Church.
He loved to square dance and travel and spent many hours in his garage doing woodwork. In his younger days he loved to bowl.
LaVerne was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Minnie Gibbs; wife, Mae Ola Gibbs; son, Gary Gibbs; and brother, Glen Gibbs.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Kissack and husband Dennis of Frenchtown, Montana and Debbie Unrein and husband Jay of Sterling; daughter-in-law Lauri Gibbs of Colorado Springs; brother, Howard Gibbs of Haxtun; sisters, Delores Merrill of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Donna Schultz of Las Lunas, New Mexico, Marlys Kain of Haxtun and Janice Gibbs of Atwater, California; five grandsons; three great grandsons; and four great granddaughters.
The funeral service was held January 19 at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke. Interment followed at Holyoke Cemetery.
"Ida Mae Wisdom died on October 11, 2018, in Sterling, Colorado. She was 91 years old. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:30 pm, at the United Methodist Church in Fleming. Ida Mae was born south of Fleming on May 31, 1927, to Luther Clay Chamblin and Ethel Gibbs Chamblin. She lived in Flagler as a child during the Great Depression with her two sisters Dorothy and Arlene. The family moved back to the Haxtun area where she graduated from Haxtun High School in 1945. She and her sister Dorothy then moved to Denver to find jobs and taught in an elementary school in the Denver area. She later taught in a country school south of Holyoke. Ida Mae met Donald Wisdom on a blind date when they went to the Logan County Fair. They married on April 4, 1948 in Haxtun. They lived on the family farm south of Dailey until 1992, when they moved to Haxtun. Ida Mae loved the farm, nature, and being a lifelong partner of Don. She was an active member of her church, volunteered in many organizations, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved and enjoyed being around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and sewing. As each of her six grandchildren graduated from high school, she made a quilt with blocks made from material she had used to sew for them as children. Ida Mae and Don loved to dance on Saturday nights and play 10-point pitch with friends and family. She was kind, tolerant, and soulful. Ida Mae is preceded in death by her husband Donald, and her sister Arlene, and parents. She is survived by her children Jackie and Chas Reynolds of Sterling, Linda Wisdom and Bruce Riggle of Eaton, and Jay and Cindy Wisdom of Haxtun, her grandchildren Mariah Reynolds and Brandon Cagle, Jason Reynolds, Lindsey Riggle, Regina Riggle, Jennifer Wisdom, and Megan Wisdom. She has a great grandson, Declan Don Cagle.

"Arlene (Chamblin) Roth, 71, Craig, died February 27, 2002, at Porter Hospital, Denver.
She was born at Haxtun on April 20, 1930 to Clay and Ethel (Gibbs) Chamblin. During her childhood the family moved to Flagler and then returned to Haxtun, where she graduated from high school in 1948.
On August 27, 1950, Arlene married Donald Roth in Holyoke. The family followed the Utah Construction Company in numerous states, including Alaska, and also overseas in New Zealand, and Zaire, Africa. In 1978 the family moved to Craig. Arlene was a member of the First Congregational Church, Yampa Valley Women’s Golf Club, Theta Mu Sorority, and was involved in the interfaith food bank.
Her hobbies were needlework, sewing for her family and playing golf.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jodelle Doyle and husband Bob, Westminster, and Wanda Weldon and husband Pat, Northglenn; four grandsons, Brendon and Eric Doyle, Westminster, Lee Kutlak and wife Brook, and Nicholas Weldon, all of Northglenn; sisters, Dorothy Fetzer and husband Leon, and Ida Mae Wisdom and husband Don, all of Haxtun; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Beverly.
A memorial service was held on March 2 at the Fairmont Chapel, Denver, with Diana Peters of the Church of Intercession officiating. A memorial service was also held at Congregational Church, Craig, on March 9. Inurnment was at Fairmont Cemetery, Denver.
