In 1870 Wright County, Iowa, C. Dowd, female 43 with son B. 18, son J. 17, son W. 14, and son J11, and daughter L. 7 are farming.

In 1895 Wright County, J.J. is 36, Mary E. 28, John 11, Chas 10, Francis 8, and Agnes 5.

In 1900 Wright County, Iowa, John Dowd, born January 1859 in Iowa, married 17 years to Mary E. June 1865 Indiana, have John June 1884, Charles B. Feb 1886, Francis J. March 1887, Agnes W. Oct 1889, and Lawrence W. March 1896, all ids born in IOwa.
July 1910 Kit Carson County " Mr. John Dowd asked that he be allowed exemption, as the head of the family. After investigation it was found as reported, and the Clerk ordered to so notify the Treasurer of same."

September 1914 "John Dowdi, 65, was shot and killed by his son, John Dowdi, Jr. 23, at the latter's ranch, eighteen miles northeast of Flagler. The young man declares he shot his father in self-defense; that he was being attacked with a pitchfork."

"John Dowdi, 55, was shot and killed Saturday by his son, John Dowdi Jr., 23, at the latter's ranch eighteen miles northeast of Flagler. ...his father in self-defense; that he was being attacked with a pitchfork. An inquest into the killing is being held today and an autopsy is said to have disclosed the fact that the bullet which killed Dowdi entered the back. There were no eye-witnesses to the incident. After killing his father, Dowdi went to Siebert, where he gave himself up. The elder Dowdi was living with his son, who is married. Young Dowdi asserts that his father had a violent temper and had been unable to get along with any of his children."

MARY'S SECOND HUSBAND

Mary E. Dowd and Wm. J. McDermott married in Wright County, Iowa on October 28, 1905.

In 1910, Mary McDermott is 44, second marriage in 1906 to William J. 53, also his second marriage.
Agnes Dowd is 19, Lawrence A. 14.
"June 21, 1865 ---- April 21, 1939 Mrs. Mary McDermott, 69, died Friday morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. H. Thompson, 2006 Sixth avenue north, Fort Dodge, Iowa, with whom she made her home. Her death, caused by a stroke of apoplexy, was sudden. Mrs. McDermott had made her home in Fort Dodge for 16 years, moving here from Eagle Grove. She is survived by the daughter with whom she made her home, two sons, John Dowd of Templeton, Ia., and Frank J. Dowd of Mandan, N. D.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Katherine Knowles of Chicago and a stepson, the Rev. Father R. M. McDermott of New York. One grandchild, Shirley Thompson, also survives. Both Mrs. Knowles and the Rev. Father McDermott are expected for the funeral. Mr. McDermott died in 1919. Funeral services will take place Monday morning at 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart church in Eagle Grove. The body was taken there Friday. "

Agnes Dowd, born Sept 9, 1899 in Templeton Iowa to Henry Stevens and Francis Pitman, wife of John Dowd, died in Templeton Iowa August 15, 1926.

John T. Dowd, born June 24, 1883 in Iowa, died Dec 13, 1945 in Los Angeles County.
He's buried in Templeton # 89493279.

Agnes E. Thompson, born Oct 27, 1889 in Iowa, died July 9, 1959 in San Bernardino County, California.
"Mrs. Agnes E. Thompason, 69, of 503 Sage Ave., Rialto died Thursday at a Fontana hospital. A native of Eagle Grove, Iowa, she had resided in Rialto four years. She was a former stenographer for Quaker Oats Co., Cedar, Iowa, and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Rialto.
Survivors include the widower, B. Harry Thompson, and a daughter, Mrs. Shirley M. Olsen, Rialto. Rosary will be recited at 8 this evening at Ralph Wm. Allen Funeral Home, Rialto. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine's. Interment will be in Rialto Park Cemetery.

When Agnes E. Dowd was born on October 27, 1889, her father, John, was 30 and her mother, Mary, was 24.
She married Harry B "Ben" Thompson on Sept. 17th, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa. They had one child during their marriage. She died on July 9, 1959, in San Bernardino, California, at the age of 69.
