Sylvester L. and Myrtle (Posey) Bantam, 7 South 51 West

John Sylvester Bantam 1847-1932 is buried in Almena # 50089753.

Rachel Ellen (Battersby) Bantam is buried in Almena 1858-1933 # 50089755, with John SS. 1847-1932
" Rachel married Charles Huckel and had three children: Hannah, John, and Roberta Huckel."


Myrtle Posey was in Norton County in 1910, 17, with her mother Malissa E. Eldred 40 and her husband Clayton A. Eldred 43. Clara Eldred is 17, Earl H. 3, and Wardie J. 1.

Sylvester registered for WWI in Flagler, born March 18, 1893 at Almena, Kansas, farming, with a wife.


Sylvester claimed a quarter in section 32, 7S 51W in 1920.


In 1920 Kit Carson County, Sylvester is a railroad laborer, with Myrtle M., both 26, with Wanita six months.

Wanda, per one tree, died October 30, 1921 in Flagler.

In 1930 Norton County, Sylvester is 36, born in Kansas, Myrtle N. 37 in Arkansas. Mildred F. 8 was born iin COlorado, Dale V. newborn in Kansas.

In 1940 Norton County, Sylvester and Myrtle have Mildred 18 and Dale 10.

Myrtle M., daughter to Jasper W. Posey and Ellen Rowden, 67, died May 12, 1960 in Spokane County, Washington, buried in Marysville # 39558662.
"Mrs. Myrtle M Bantam, 67, of 251 Burns St., Wenatchee Wash., died in a Spokane hospital May 12, 1960 following an extended illness.
Myrtle Magdalene Posey, daughter of Malissa Ellen Rowden and Jasper W. Posey, was born August 30, 1892, at Wheatley, Ark., and passed away May 12, 1960, at the age of 67 years 3 months and 12 days.
After the death of her father in 1898, she moved with her mother to Lebanon, Kansas.
In February 1906, she moved to the Almena neighborhood with her mother and step-father, Clayton A Eldred.
On November 27, 1913, she was united in marriage to Sylvester L. Bantam at the home of her parents. They moved to the Harry Graham farm near Almena. In 1917 they homesteaded at Flagler, Colo., living there until 1929 when they returned to Almena. In 1948 they moved to Omak, Washington and since 195? had made their home in Wenatchee, Washington.
Mrs. Bantam was a member of the Congregational Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, step-sister Clare Linnell, half-sister Audris May Eldred and by a son Truman J., who died at birth 1918, and a daughter Wanda Margurite, who passed away at the age of two and a half years in 1921.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Dale V. Bantam, Paterville, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Archie Engelhardt, Long Island, Kansas; two brothers, Earl and Wardie Eldred, Omak, Wash.; a step-sister, Wilma Idleman of Independence, Mo,; one uncle, Elbert Posey of Wheatle, Ark., and five grandchildren.

Sylvester died August 9, 1976 in Marysville, Washington. He's buried in Marysville # 88354627.

MYRTLE

" Mildred Fern (Bantam) Engelhardt, daughter of Sylvester L. and Myrtle (Posey) Bantam, was born January 17, 1922, in Flagler, Colorado, and passed away at the McCrite Health Center in Topeka, Kansas, on June 29, 2014, at the age of 92. Mildred moved to Almena, Kansas in 1930 and attended the Almena schools. On September 5, 1941, Mildred and Charles "Archie" Engelhardt were united in marriage in Almena, Kansas. They moved to Long Island, Kansas in 1959, where she lived for 34 years following Archie's death in 1982, before moving to Norton in 1993. In 2011, Mildred moved to Topeka, Kansas to be near her family. Mildred was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 60 years and the Golden Glow Club at the senior center. She loved to travel with Mable Nyland and Hazel Sanddale and running the bake sales at the Don McMullen auctions. Mildred loved her family and her cat Tiger. Her last few years were spent watching game shows and doing her puzzle books. Mildred also loved crocheting. Survivors include: one daughter; two sons; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and one great-great-grandchild. Mildred was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Charles Archie; two brothers and one sister. (Source: Enfield Funeral Home)"

DALE

"Dale V. Bantam, 78, passed away October 27, 2008. He was born in Almena, Kansas February 26, 1930. He moved to Omak when he was 16 to work in the apple orchards. He met and married Erma Jean Clevenger and they had three boys. He later moved to the Wenatchee area, where he worked for Joe Welty Ford as an auto mechanic for many years. Dale then relocated to the Seattle area, where he worked for University Ford. In the early 1980’s life took him and his family to Grandview, WA, where he managed several low income apartment complexes. He then relocated back to Wenatchee, where he met and married his wife, Barbara. During that time, he managed the Wenatchee House and Emerson Manor. Dale then began working for Tree Top and continued working there until he retired in 1992. Dale and Barbara loved to go traveling in their 5th wheel to rodeos, music festivals and anywhere they could fi nd music to dance. Dale collected John Deere Tractor memorabilia. Dale was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all those who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bantam of Wenatchee; children and spouses, Ronald and Paul Bantam of Auburn, Steve and Elly Bantam of Yakima and David Bantam and Twyla Knotts of Prosser; and his sister, Mildred Engelhart of Norton, KS. Dale also leaves six grandchildren, Jeani, Zanni and Cory Bantam of Auburn, Jennifer Bantam of Baker, OR and Jake and Joshua Bantam of Missoula, MT; two step-daughters; ten step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. TherewillbeaMemorialService held at Bethel Baptist Church, 1354 Eastmont Avenue, East Wenatchee, WA, on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor John Sterk officiating. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee."
