Kit Carson County Pioneers:

Charles A. and Sarah A. (Streeter) Tyler, 7 South 50 West



In 1880 Antelope County, Nebraska, Charles is with parents Jay Milton Tyler and Eliza Jane Tyler.

One cousin wrote that Charley was poking an old mule with a pointed stick, and the mule kicked Charley in the face. He lost his eye and went the rest of his life with one eye.

Jay Milton Tyler was born at Barns Corners, New York, March 29, 1840 and died at his home near Creighton, August 29, 1913, aged 73 years and five months.
Mr. Tyler grew to manhood in New York. At the age of 22, he moved to Dennison, Iowa, where he was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Morris. To this union six children were born,f our of whom are living.
He moved with his family to Antelope county in the spring of 1879, residing in the Crawford Valley neighborhood for several years, later, moving to this vicinity.
His wife and two children died some years ago. He leaves to mourn his death, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Reel of Meadow Grove and Mrs. John (Olive) Howe of Elgin, Mont. and two sons, Morris and Charley of this vicinity.
Funeral services were held from the home of his son, Morris, on Monday. Burial was made in the Crawford Valley cemetery by the side of his wife and two children.

Sarah's father Silas W. Streeter 1842-1920 is buried in Crawford County, Iowa # 60703732, with Mary (Morris) Streeter 1859-1927 # 60703731.

Charles is a laborer in 1900 Huron County, Ohio, born October 1876, married five months to Sadie A April 1882, both born in Iowa.

April 26, 1906 Denison, Iowa "S.W. Streeter received news last week that their daughter, Mrs. Sadie Tyler of Creighton was the proud mother of twin boys."

"The five weeks old infant of Mr. and Mrs. Tyler, who reside about six miles southwest of Creighton was found dead in bed Friday morning.
The funeral service was held Saturday morning at the home and was conducted by Rev. J. Narver Gortner if the Methodist church. The remains laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery.
The bereaved parents have the sympathy of their many friends.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tyler. He shares a gravestone with his brothers, twins, Lloyd and Vernon."

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tyler, a twin, died at their home last Sunday, after a brief illness of about two hours.
The funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. Thorpe on Monday afternoon. Interment was made in the Creighton cemetery.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Charles is farming, 32, born in Iowa, married ten years to Sarah A. 27, also Iowa. Clinton J. is 9, born in Ohio, and Blanche A. 7 in Nebraska.
Charles claimed a quarter in section 15, 7S 50W in 1912.

September 1917 Denison, Iowa "Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Streeter were greatly surprised on Saturday afternoon by having all their children step in for a family reunion on Sunday. Those who had their feet under Pa's and Ma's table were Mrs. Sadie Tyler and babe, from Creighton, Neb.; Mrs. Nina McKim and son, Howard, of Mallard; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Winans and babe of Wall Lake; Raymond, Dennie and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Streeter of Deloit and Mrs. Geo. Zea and babe of Denison. The table fairly groaned under the load of good things to eat and the occasion will long be remembered by those present. On Monday afternoon they all went to Denison to have their picture taken. The oldest girl has not been under the parental roof for ten years, thus the event was greatly enjoyed."

In 1920 they're in Rock County, Nebraska, Charles 42, Sarah A. 37, Clinton 19, Blanche A. 17, Mary I 6, Early R. 4, adn Irene 1, all four kids born in Nebraska.

In 1930 Rock County, Charles is 51, Sadie A. 47, Mary I. 15, Irene L. 11, and Charles M. 5.

Sarah Ann (Streeter) Tyler 1883-1949 is buried in Bassett # 134231190.

Charles Asahel Tyler 1877-1959 died in Grand Island, buried in Bassett # 24636530.

CLINTON

In 1940 Bonner County, Idaho, Clinton is a laborer 39, born in Ohio, Hazel V. 34 in Iowa, Vernon E. 11, Alice L. 9, and Raechel L. 8 in Nebraska, Robert M. 5 and Mildred O. 1 in Idaho.
Charles M. Tyler, his brother is 19, born in Nebraska.

Clinton, born January 5, 1901 in Ohio to Charles A. Tyler and Sarah Streeter, died Septembeer 26, 1941 in Bonner County, Idaho.

Clinton J. Tyler and Hazel V. Gapen had Rachel Leola Tyler on October 26, 1931 in Bassett, Nebraka. She married Leonard A. Montgomery on September 30, 1946 in Lincoln County, Montana.
Rachel's name was Montgomery in 1952, and Hart in 1988, dying August 12, 1999 as Davies.

BLANCHE

Blanche A. Tyler, 22, of Bassett, Nebraska, married Frank Clark on March 3, 1925 in Tripp, South Dakota.

She's buried in Bassett 1902-1950 # 24634772.
Frank is also buried there 1895-1959 # 24634774.

MARY

In 1940 Klickitat County, Washington, Mary is 26, married to Garland Jacox, 38, with Lawrence 4. They were in Bassett, Nebraska in 1935.

IRENE

Irene might be the Irene Fuller, born September 3, 1918, dying August 1981, last residence Newport, Nebraska.

CHARLES
Charles Melton Tyler 1924-1977 is buried in Grand Island, Nebraska # 100833489, with Joyce B. 1914-1978.
