Ben Reed has one of the prettiest places in town, and all because he was

May 1895 "The perfume of orange blossoms filled the Enterprise office Saturday afternoon.
The delightful odor was not caused by the visit of a bride direct from the altar, but by the presence of
a branch from an orange tree. It was brought us by Mrs. T. F. Godding, Sr., who with her husband,
is spending some time with their daughter, Mrs. Ben Reed, en route home from California.
The orange branch not only contained the fragrant blossoms but small, green oranges.
Mrs. Godding also brought us a splendid specimen of the navel orange, 12 inches in circumference,
plucked from a tree at Monrovia, Cal., which Mr. Godding planted when in California five years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Godding were in a wreck which occurred at Raton Friday morning, but escaped without injury.
After a visit with Mrs. Reed they will go to Longmont and then east. "
