"David W. Kirkendall, 93, formerly of 914 Queen Ann, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ideal Rest Home, 309 Richmond Ave., following a long illness.
He was a former employe of the YMCA. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Art Kirkendall and was born in Henry County, Ill., Nov. 16, 1870. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 68 years and was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
His marriage to Rebecca Jane Rupe took place Feb. 9, 1895. She preceded him in death September 12, 1949.
There are no known survivors.
The service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in charge of the Rev. Milton C. Early of the Church of the Brethren and the Rev. Charles Albin of the Grundy Center Church of the Brethren.
Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service."

"Mrs. Maude Bennett, 46, Ottumwa route 5, died at her home north of the city Thursday at 3 p.m.
She was born in Jamestown, Ark., March 10, 1897, and had lived in Ottumwa most of her life. She was a member of the West End Presbyterian church.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Emma Fitzgerald of Ottumwa; sister, Mrs Laura Jobe of Ottumwa; niece, Mrs. Thelma Kramer of Aurora, Ill.; nephews, Hollis, Eastman, Emery and Victor Jobe, of Ottumwa.
Services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Lloyd C. Snyder, with burial In Shaul cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers."
