John F. Weisshaar, Burlington



When Barbara Widmann of Bethune, one of the heirs of Jacob Widmann, claimed land in 7S 44W, in 1911, witnesses were Jacob Schlichemayer of Bethune, William Yale of Hermes, Frank Chandler of Burlington, and John Weisshaar of Hermes.

John F. Weisshaar, 24, married Lydia Stahlecker on December 26, 1911 in Kit Carson County.

John claimed a quarter in section 13, 7S 45W in 1916.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, John is farming, 42, with Lydia 40 born in South Dakota. Frieda 17, Martha 15, Bernhard 13, Ruben 11, Erma 9, Anna 5, and Alma ten months were all born in Colorado.

John is farming in 1940 Yamhill County, Oregon, 52, with Lydia 50, Ben J. 23, Ruben E. 21, Erma C. 18, Anna P. 14, Alvina L. 11, and Ruthina M. 9.

January 1945 Idalia "Mr. William Weisshaar, our merchant here is making a satisfactory recovery from an operation at the St. Francis hospital. We will be happy to have him hack with us again."

1945 Idalia items in the Wray Gazette "Mrs. John Weisshaar called on Grandmother Brenner while here Sunday. They were neighbors in the early day."

1945 "Pete Schlienmeyer, mother and brother were over from the settlement one day last week and visited the Wm. Weisshaar home. Mrs. Schlienmeyer is a sister of Mr. Weisshaar."

March 7, 1946 "Wm. Weisshaar was called recently because his mother had passed away. He and family had called that evening. Our sympathy is extended to the family as his mother was one of the first settlers in this community and lived here for many years. "

1946 " Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weisshaar and family called on his mother one evening last week, over in the settle- ment. "

December 1946 "Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Weisshaar drove over to see her father MrAdolph, who is not so well."

1947 "Mrs. Lena Schlichenmayer and son Pete were visitors here one day last week with her brother, Wm. Weisshaar and family."

1953 Idalia items in the Wray Gazette "John Weisshaar and wife, and daughter and son-in-law from Newberg, Ore., stopped for a short visit with his brother, Wm. Weisshaar and family last week. John met several old friends while here. "

William's sister was Mrs. G. Schlchenmayer. Her son Elmer visited his uncle William Weisshaar of Idalia in 1944.

William Christian Weisshaar 1902-1990 is buried in Idalia # 64972839, with Frieda (Adolf) Weisshaar 1911-2003 # 64972778.

John Frederick Weisshaar 1887-1967 is buried in Newberg # 37428492.
"Services for John F. Weisshaar, 79, of Newberg were held Thursday in Zion Lutheran Church, Newberg, with interment at Valley View Memorial Park. He died at his home Feb. 7, 1967.
A native of Idalia, Colo., he was born Sept. 15, 1887, son of John and Christina Weisshaar. In 1935 the family moved to Springbrook, a short time later to a farm southeast of Newberg. Since 1945 he and lived in Newberg.
Lydia (Stahlecker) Weisshaar, 1889-1970 is also buried in Newberg.
