Johannes and Wilhelmina Wahl, 7 South 45 West



In 1880 Hutchinson County, Dakota Territory, John is farming, 35, with Wilhelmina 30, Wilhelmina 9, John 6, Katharina 4, and William 2.

The John Wahl family came to America in March 1890, settling at Scotland, South Dakota. In March 1890 they moved to Burlington, Colorado, then nine miles north of Bethune, Colorado.

In 1900 Tuttle precinct, Kit Carson County, John is farming, born January 1835, with Wilhelmina October 1850, and John Jr. June 1874, all three born in Russia. Wilhelm April 1878 was born in Nebraska, Amelia June 1884 and Louisa Feb 1891 in South Dakota, and Annette Nov 1893 in Colorado.

Johann Wahl, Sr. claimed a quarter in section 23, 7S 45W in 1905.

Wilhelmina Wahl claimed one next to Johann in section 23 in 1907.

John 1845-1906 is buried in Bethune # 118872484, with Wilhelmina (Kuck) Wahl 1850-1932.

In October 1910, William, adminstrator of the estate of John Wahl, Sr. , deceased had the land in seciton 23 to sell at auction in Kit Carson County.

Willamina is in Lincoln County, Washington in 1910, 59, widowed, with Louisa 18 and Nellie P. 16.

ANNETTE

Annette P. Wahl, 21, born in Colorado, a resident of Odessa, Washington, married Robert B. Burabnk, 37, a resident of Hillyard, Washington, on June 21, 1915 in Spokane.

Annette Pauline Wahl Burbank 1893–1988 is buried in Spokane, with Robert (Barney) Burbank 1878-1945. " Service for Annette Pauline Burbank, 94, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Burbank died Monday at St. Brendan Nursing Home. Born in Colorado, she had lived in Spokane more than 75 years and had been a clerk at The Crescent about 10 years.
Mrs. Burbank was a past president of the Railway Conductors Auxiliary and a member of Ivanhoe Chapter 80, Order of Eastern Star. She was the widow of Barney Burbank. Mrs. Burbank is survived by several nieces and nephews."


WILLIAM

William married Katherine Adolph in Kit Carson COunty on October 1, 1905. she was born at Brienne, Bessarabia, South Russia on October 18, 1887. She came to the United States with her parents in 1888. After her marriage they lived at Bethune, Colorado; Odessa, Washington; Wapato, Wa.; and Union Gap, Wa. William was a farmer, Katie a housewife. Born to them were:

In 1910 Douglas County, Washington, William is 32, Katie 29, Alma 3 and Mabel 1.


In 1920 Odessa, Lincoln County, Washington, William is farming, 42 born in Nebraska, with Katy 32 Russia. Alma H. is 13, born in Colorado, Mabel W. 11 and Esther L. 5 in Washington.

Katherine Wahl, 68, daughter of August Adolph and Katherine Richter, died Feb 1, 1956 in Yakima, Washington.

William, 79, died in Yakima, Washington on March 20, 1958.

Alma Hilda, born July 29, 1906 at Burlington, Colorado. She married Theodore R. Abener, they had two children. They were living at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at the time of her death, January 3, 1982.
Mabel, born June 27, 1908 at Odessa, Wa. She married John Bastrom. She died November 19, 1946 while living at White Swan, Wa. They had two children, Perry and Gloria.
The Wahl family were members of the Lutheran Church. Katherine preceded William in death, she died February 1, 1956 in Yakima and William March 20, 1958. Both are interred at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

1911 "A. G. Wahl of Goodland spent a few days this week visiting Burlington friends. Mr. Wahl is a mechanical engineer for the Rock Island."

In 1895 Gove County, Kansas, A. G. Wahl is 37, born in Ohio, married to Elizabeth 26 born in England. She came to Kansas from Colorado. They have Josephine 6 born in Colorado, George 3 and John eight months born in Kansas.

He's farming with the next household John Wahl 69 born in Germany, coming to Kansas from Ohio, married to Catharine 61 also born in Germany. They have Katy 25 born in Ohio.

He's listed as Valentine G. Wahl in later census years, and is buried in Denver 1861-1935 # 135054566, with Elizabeth J. 1868-1907 # 92592102.
