Henry claimed a quarter in section 29, 7S 45W in 1891, and Philander one in section 31, also in 1891.

In 1860 Andrew County, Missouri, Henry J. Meek is farming, 25, born in Indiana, Eliza 25, with William S. 6 and "Nepolian" B. 4.

In 1865 Doniphan County, Kansas, Henry J. and Eliza Ann Meek are both 30, with William S. 11 and Napoleon B. 9.

In 1870 Doniphan County, Kansas, Henry is farming, with Elizabeth, both 35, Wm. S. 16, Napoleon B. 14, Henry 1, Willard 21. Mary Miller 16 is a servant and Thos Rhodes ten months old is with them.

In 1880 Jackson County, Kansas, Henry is farming, 45, born in Tennesse, Elizabeth 44 in Missouri, and Henry 11 in Kanss.

There's a Henry J. Meek in 1885 Jackson County, Kansas, farming, 50, born in Indiana. He's next to the Joseph Gabriel 40 and Lizzie gabriel 27, with five kids.

One post says " March 15, 1886 (52) EmpireTwp, Andrew, MO " - which might be his father.

Henry J. Meek and Maggie E. Bowen married in Doniphan County, Kansas in December 1892. This perhaps is the son of Henry J....

"Napoleon B. Meek was born 27 Apr 1856 in Missouri. He died 25 Mar 1911 in Topeka, KS. He married Kansas Illinois Cruzan 10 Jun 1876 in Jackson Co., KS. She was born 4 Apr 1857 in Leavenworth, KS. She died 9 Jun 1940 in Wichita, KS. They were list in the 1880 census of Grant TWP, Jackson Co., KS.
1. William Meek was born 18 Oct 1878 in Jackson Co., KS. He died in 1956 in Kansas City, MO.
2. Mary Ann Meek was born 16 Oct 1882 in Jackson Co., KS. She died 26 Nov 1938 in Topeka, KS.

HENRY

Henry Meek, 24, and Myrtle Smith 17, married in Brown County, Kansas on December 12, 1894.

They're farming in Brown County in 1900, Henry born April 1876, Myrtle March 1879, with Wade Apri 1897, all three in Kansas.

In 1910 Henry is a stationary engineer in Wichita, 40, with Myrtle 35 and Wade 13.

In 1920 Myrtle is in Kansas, City, 41, married to Edgar Van Beek 42.

Myrtle 1878-1960 is buried in Topeka # 54477407
"Mrs. Myrtle Van BEEK, 82, 2809 Iowa, died Saturday following a long illness. She had lived here 19 years.
She was born in Robinson, March 1, 1878, and was member of the Methodist Church at Whiting.
She moved to Topeka from Sedalia, Mo.
Surviving are a son, Wade MEEK, 2811 Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Bertha WILSON of Osage City; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren."

Wade is buried in Topeka 1897-1980 # 79260683,

PHILANDER

One post said that Philander was the son of Jeremiah V. Meek 1818-1783 dying in Grundy County, Missouir, and Elizabeth C. Vest 1820-1897.

In 1850 Pike County, Illinois, David Meek is 30, Nancy 31, Elizabeth 18, Harrison 14, John 12, Polly 7, and Nancy 4.

In 1870 Ripley County, Indiana, "Filander S. Meck" is 8, with Jeremiah 56 and Elizabeth 54. George is 20, Rachel E. 1q5, Sarah E. 13, and Leander H. 18.

In 1880 Grundy County, Missouri, Filander is 18, single, working for his brother Harrison 43 and Lucy J. 40, farming. Harrison has seven kids, ages 2 to 18.

Cora Crooks is in Grundy County in 1870, 4, with Thomas Crooks 64 and Louisa 47.

In 1900 Indian Territory, Philander is farming, born Aug 1861 in Indiana, married 18 years to Cora E. Dec 1862 Missouri, with George E. April 1887 in Kansas, Leander H. Nov 1891 Missouri, and Nettie H. Jan 1895 in Missouri. Cora's mother Louisa Crooks Nov 1820 in Ohio is widowed. She's had two kids, one living.

July 1906 Coffeyville, Kansas "Mrs. George Meeks of West Eleventh street, returned a few days ago from Dewey, Okla., where she was called by the illness of her mother, Mrs. Louisa Crooks."

In 1910 Montgomery County, Kansas, Philander H. is a carpenter, 48, with Cora E. 40, George S. 22, Leander 18, Nettie 15, and Cora 9 born in Oklahoma. Louisa Crooks, 89, is still with them.

1910 Hancock County, Indiana "The following letter from Joseph Low, formerly of this county but now on a trip through the West will be of interest to Greenfield and Hancock Oouuty people.
I left Wesport Ind., Aug. 12th for St. Louis, Mo., and arrived there the same day, was met by my cousin, Edward Allen, and spent two days with him in a most delightful manner, taking in as many of the sights of the city as we possibly could by automobile riding. The Union Depot there almost awes one with its grandeur. On Sunday evening I left St. Louis for Coffeyville, Kan., arriving there at noon on the 15th. And was met by my wife and spent several days there with her brother and family, P. H. Meek, and looking through the city. It is the nicest and busiest place we found in the West.
There are many fine private residences and it has many manufactoring plants that affords thousands of men employment. "

June 1912 Coffeyville " four Meeks in Coffeyville to divide the Earth : George E. can have North and South America, Nettie can take Europe, Philander H., Africa, and Cora, Asia, leaving Australia and a group of assorted islands as an undivided surplus. The Meeks all live at 1213 west Eleventh."

In 1920 Creek County, Oklahoma, Philander is a painter, 58, Cora E. 54, George E. 33 is a railroad brakeman, and Cora L. 19.

"Philander Meek was born on 15 Aug 1861 in Ripley Co., IN. He died on 19 Feb 1925 in Craig Co., OK. He married Cora Ella Crooks on 10 Jun 1883 in Grundy Co., MO. She was born on 12 Dec 1865 in Livingston Co., MO. She died on 22 Aug 1939 in Okmulgee Co, OK. He is listed in the 1880 census with his sister Lucy and Harrison Meek."

FindaGrave # 144502655 has Philander H. Meek buried in Vinita, Craig County, but dying September 1949.

Cora Ella Meek is widowed in 1930 Tulsa, 64, and Cora L. Turner 29 is with her.


"Born in Ripley, Indiana, on 15 Aug 1861 to Jeremiah V Meek and Elizabeth Vest. Philander H Meek married Cora Ella Crooks and had 1 child. He passed away on 19 Feb 1925 in Vinita, Woods, Oklahoma"

"Nettie Henry Meek, a nurse, born in Galt, Grundy, Missouri, on 1894 (January 16, 1895 on the death certificate) to Philander H Meek and Cora Ella Crooks. Nettie Henry Meek married James Leroy Cox and had 2 children. She passed away on 4 May 1977 in Amarillo, Randall, Texas" The informant was Richard Cox.
