Kit Carson County Pioneers:

Samuel Ewing, 7 South 45 West

Samuel claimed a quarter in section 12, 7S 45W in 1891.
This is a mile from Fred Leonard, so they might be related.

In 1880 Iowa County, Iowa George Leonard is 45, Sarah (Ewing) Leonard 39 born in Ohio, Mary 18, Anna 16, Scott 13, Charles 7, and Duane 4.
Sarah Ewing was in Putnam County, Ohio in 1850, 9, with James 43 and Agness 41. Mary S. is 17, Thompson M. 15, James H. 12, Joseph S. 10, Sarah A. 9, Minerva Jane 6, and John C. 2.

In 1860 James and Agness are in Story County, Iowa, with J. H. 22, Joseph S. 20, Sarah 19, M. J. 16, John H. 12, and William B. 10.

Sam isn't in the census with Sarah, so he might be a cousin, not an uncle, of Fred Leonard.

There's a Samuel Ewing in 1900 Denver, an insurance agent, born August 1858 in Iowa, married nine years to Waitstill June 1851 Illinois. Her son Earl L. Rolf was born April 1885 in Colorado.

Waitstill and Milton Rolf had divorced in Denver on January 2, 1891.

Sam and Waitstill are in Denver in 1910, and he's buried in Denver 1858-1912 # 29634709, Waitstill 1853-1932 is buried in Fort Collins # 169548466.
