Lucinda Weaver, widow of John L. Weaver, proved up two quarters in 26, 6S 44W, Kit Carson County, in 1914.
In 1910 Kit Carson County, John L. Weaver is 69 born in Tennessee, married 24 years t(second marriage for both) Lucindy 49 Iowa. Bert is 22, Iowa, Effie 17, Ida Belle 15, James F. 10 - these four born in Missouri, Julia R.9, Colorado and Elvie L 5 Missouri.

January 12, 1911 "Again the Swift Messenger of death has thrust in his sharp sickle and with but little warning invaded the home of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Weaver who live 13 miles north of Burlington. On January 2nd Mr. Weaver was stricken with paralysis from which he never recovered and on the 6th of January 1911 the spirit winged its way from pain and suffering of this world to its home on High. Mr. Weaver was seventy years old. He moved here from Kansas City Mo three years ago and settled on a homestead where he spent his last days. He was a faithful husband and loving father patiently enduring the life we all know anyone must endure who makes a home on a homestead in Colorado. Mr. Weaver was the father of ninteen children, three of them preceded him to the home on High. He leaves to mourn his death a wife and sixteen children, friends who join us in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family in this hour of sorrow and separation. The funeral was conducted at the home Sunday January 8th by Mrs. M. A. Bevier of the Congregational church. Burial was made in the Burlington cemetery."

The 1890 directory of Furnas County has Peter and J.B. Swaim, both of Beaver City.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Peter M. is 58, born in Iowa, married 37 years to Rachel E. 37 Tennessee. Grace, 17 was born in Nebaska.

In 1920 Burlington, Peter is 68, Elizsabeth R. 71, with grandson Orville 20 born in Nebaska.

They might be the Peter M. (Elizabeth( living in 1921 in San Diego, California at 3966 Center.

William G. Swaim married Bertha M. Wilkinson in Furnas County, Nebraska on December 24, 1892.

In 1900 Furnas County, Nebraska, William Swaim is farming, married 7 years to May born May 1876, both born in Iowa. William O. was born May 1900 in Nebaska.
In 1910 they have Orvall W. 9, Albert 4, and Frank B. one month.

In 1915 they're in Woodson County, Kansas, with the three sons.

William George Swaim registered for WWI in Burlington, born July 1, 1874, farming, with Bertha May Swaim.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, William is farming 44, May 43, Orville 19, Albert 13, and Harold 9 born in Nebraska.
Mae B. and William G. Swaim divorced in Delta County in 1935.

In 1930 Delta County, Mary B. is divorced, 49, with Albert H. 23 and Frank H. 18.

She might be the Bertha Mae Crabill 1875-1957 buried in Delta # 13361101 - the stone has "Mae Swaim Crabill."
As of July 2016 there was a duplicate # 18301493

William Orville Swaim 1900-1984 is buried in Delta # 14068144 - it says he died in Gand Junction, marr ying Alberta June 13, 1937.

Harry Albert Swaim 1906-1979 is buried in Delta # 15035997.

Frank Harold "Tiny" Swaim 1910-1998 is buried in Delta, Colorado # 11138958, married March 19, 1939 to Kathryn 1911-1996.

Arch Swaim married Oretta Lomax in Furnas County on November 29, 1915.


Archibald proved up a quarter in 13, 7S 43W in 1916.
He registered for WWI with a Kanorado Colorado address, born June 8, 1890 at Beaver City Nebraska., with a wife. farming.

In 1920 he's in Kiowa County, Colorado, 29, with Odetta 27, Barbara M. 2 and Betty F. 1.
The four of them are still farming in Kiowa County in 1930.

In 1940 Salida Colorado, Arch and Oretta are alone, farming.

Arch 1890-1952 # 44090309 and Oretta (Lomax) Swaim 1891-1973 # 44089788 are buried in Salida.
In 1962 Grand Junction, Colorado, Oretta (widow of Arch) lives at 2847 S. B. Rodad - Orchard Mesa.
Their daughter Barbara Maxine Nelson 1918-1999 is buried in Grand Junction # 116968729.

June 1, 1911 "Miss Ida Swaim, one of the teachers in the Goodland school, arrived in the City Wednesday morning. Miss Swaim will spend her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Swaim, east of town."


1913 Ottawa Kansas "Miss Ida Swaim left this morning for her home in Burlington, Colo. She had been visiting here for some time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Stockton, southeast of town."

Zephia Bert Swaim was born June 4, 1879 in Marion County Iowa to Peter M. Swaim and Rachel E. Weaver.

October 3, 1912 Burlington "Born - to Mr. and Mrs. Z. B. Swaim, Monday, September 23, a little son."
"F. C. Handford and wife of Cedar Bluff, Nebr., were guests at the Z. B. Swaim home."

Clara is divorced in 1930 Fremont, Nebraska, 42, with Robert A. 20, Harry W. 17, and Ellis 12.

The separation agreement between Z.B. Swain and Carrie W. Swain of Norton County, Kansas divided up land in Norton County.

In 1941 the Thayer County Assistance Office wrote Mrs. Donald Brass of Fremont regarding care of her father.



Harry is in Omaha in 1940, single. "Gammy (Minnie) and Leonard Brass took in their granddaughter, Barbara Swaim and raised her. Harry is her Dad."

Ellis 1917-1988 - WWI Army - is buried in Fremont # 80923645, with Gertrude 1918-1988.

Lucille died January 17, 1977 at Omaha, to be buried in Fremont, Nebraska, # 142289684.

William G. Swaim 1873-1936 is buried in Burlington # 89681365.

R.G. Swaim 1885-1951 is buried in Flagler # 13478359.

Grace L. Swaim, age 23, married Hansel T. Bushart, 21, in Burlington on December 18, 1915.


Vancouver, Washington
Robert A. Swaim, a Vancouver resident the last three years, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Vancouver. He was 92.
Mr. Swaim was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Burlington, Colo.
During the Depression, he and his wife operated a decorating business in California.
He was an avid gardener and loved growing fruits, vegetables and flowers. He was active in scouting in California and had backpacked in the Sierras.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette, at home; one daughter, Judy Warnok of Waterford, Conn.; one stepdaughter, Karen Hsu of Vancouver; one son, Robert J. of San Ramon, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A service will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel at Kamlu Retirement Inn in Hazel Dell. Davies Cremation and Burial Services is in charge of arrangements.
