In 1880 DeKalb County, Missouri, James Pennington is 15, farming with Robert Pennington 56, Martisha 38, William 23, Emaline 21, Liza A. 18, and George E. 5.

In 1900 Harlan County, Nebraska, James is a physician, born March 1868 in Missouri, with Minnie Nov 1871 Iowa, Nellie July 1894, Bertha January 1897, and Maude June 1899, all three born in Nebraska.

November 10, 1910 "Dr. J. L. Pennington M. D. wishes to announce that he will, in the future devote more of his time to Osteopathy. The Doctor is a graduate of the school of Osteopathy at Kirksville, Missouri, and has taken work in Chiropractic and Muropractic under Dr. Hillendorfer, of Fountain, Colorado.
This kind of treatment cures diseases by spinal adjustment, and the Doctor, will be pleased to explain his treatment, either by mail or in person. He has a number of patients in this vicinity who will take pleasure in recommending this work.
Dr. Pennington has made arrangements for room and board for out-of-town patients who desire to take treatment.
Office hours from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m.. Correspondence invited and cheerfully answered."


In 1910 Kit Carson County, Beaver Valley precinct, James L. is a doctor, 42 born in MIssouri married 16 yearrs to Minnie M. 38 Michigan. Nellie M. 15, Bertha M. 13, Maud M. 10, Edith F. 8 and Lois 6 were born in Nebraska, Helen 3 and Dorothea 1 in Colorado.

In 1910 Henry Johnson was the secretary-treasurer of School District # 30, J. L. Pennington the president.
September 1911 "The Burlington union has lost a good working member in the moving away of Mrs. Pennington. The family recently moved to Canon City, Colorado."

In 1920 they're in Thedford, Nebraska, with Bertha M. 23, Edith F. 17 Lois M. 15, Helen M. 13, and Dorothy J. 11.

Glenn A. Archer of Sioux Falls, S.D. married Nellie Pennington, age 20, in Sioux Falls March 2, 1915.

In 1930 Glendale, California, Lois Pennington is 26, living with sister Nellie 35 and her husband Glenn Archer 41 botn in Iowa. Nellie has Nida born in South Dakota 14, Betty 8 in California.

Nellie M. Archer, born Dec 28, 1894 in Nebraska, died Feb 11, 1970 in Los Angeles County.

Lois Mae Cerny, born Feb 29, 1904 to father Pennington and mother Morgan, died in San Diego County April 14, 1980.
She's buried in Monrovia, Los Angeles County # 85190772 (name Cerney).

In 1940 Minnie is widowed, 68, living with Bertha and Alvin Ratliff in Kimball County, Nebraska - all in Thomas County in 1935.

His brother William was also a physician 1857-1933 buried in St. Joseph, Missouri # 100812830.

His brother George was also a physician # 41324241 says "Funeral services were held on Jan. 9, 1960 for Dr. Geo. E. Pennington with the Rev. Ralph Wiley officiating.
Dr. Pennington, son of Robert and Martica Pennington) was born Mar. 28, 1875 in Stuartsville, Mo., and died Jan. 6, 1960 at the age of 84 yrs., 9 months, and 6 days in the Broken Bow, Nebr. Community Hosp.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, four brothers and five sisters.
Dr. Pennington graduated from the Emsworth medical college in St. Joseph, Mo., Mar. 16, 1902. Mar. 19, 1902 he was united in marriage to Julia E. Egbert of Boliver, Mo. They immediately left for Nebraska locating in Anselmo. In 1907, they moved to Broken Bow where the doctor was in active practice until the time of his death. "
