In 1880 Marion County, Iowa, John F. Lohse is farming, 51, born in Hanover, with Nancy E. 44 born in Ohio. Martha is 18, John F. 16, George E. 14, Florence 12, Etta ?, August 6, James C. 4, and Mary E. 2 - granddaughter.


Nancy is buried in Marion County, 1835-1926, # 70488846.

Mrs. Fredric Lohse, Nancy Ellen Griffith, daughter of Jessie and Unie Griffith, was born in Indiana in 1835. When two years old, she came to Ohio with her parents. She was united in marriage to John Fredric Lohse in 1856. To this union eleven children were born, of which seven are living [i.e., 1927]. She was left a widow in 1906 and since then has lived with her children. Grandma Lohse has a host of friends which she cultivated while living in Iowa, Colorado, and Missouri. Over the last three years were spent in Missouri with her youngest son, J. C. Lohse. Another son, John, was at her bedside when death came. Grandma Lohse was sick only three weeks, and bedfast only eight days. She was converted when quite young and joined the Baptist Church. She was a great Bible reader and loved to talk on the subject. Her last hour she talked of her Savior and of her going. Her belief was to love and respect all, no matter how great the error was. On February 23, at 8:20 p.m. she closed her eyes peacefully in sleep, at the ripe old age of 90 years, 4 months, and 20 days. The funeral was preached at the house by Brother Campbell and her body was taken to Iowa and laid to rest with her loved ones in the Lutheran St. Paul Cemetery near Melcher. – Melcher Union Weekly Newspaper -
Her death certificate says her parents were Jessie and Unice Griffith.


JAMES

In 1880 Marion County, Anna M. "Fight" is 1, with Jacob H. Fight 36 and Louisa 31. Jacob B. is 9, Adam E. 7, Mary C. 4, and Daniel Walter Fight 3.

In 1900 Marion County, John F. born July 1829 in Germanny, married 44 years to Nancy, October 1835 Ohio, have John F. Nov 1863 Ohio, William A. April 1873 Iowa, and James C. July 1875 Iowa. Nancy J. Feight born January 1882 is a servant.

James Lohse, age 26, married Anna J. Feight in Marion County on June 12, 1901. His parents were John Frederick Lohse and Nancy Griffith. Anna's parents were J.H. and Louisa Feight.

James claimed a quarter in 25, 7S 43W in 1911, and Nancy claimed two sections next to him in 1912.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, James is 34, married nine years to Anna 30, both born in Iowa. Next household is Nancy Ella Lohse, 74 widowed born in Ohio. Nancy has had eleven children, nine living.

In July 1914 Nancy and James were in Curryville, Missouri
They're back in Missouri to register for WWI, James Charles Lohse born July 8, 1875, farming, married to Annie.

In 1920 Pike County, Missouri, James is 44, Anna E. 40, farming.
They're still alone in 1930 and 1940 Pike County.

Anna Melbina Lohse, wife of James, was born June 17, 1877 in Marion County Iowa, and diedNovember 9, 1943, to be buried in Curryville, Missouri.

James Charles Lohse, born July 8, 1875 in Marion County, Iowa, died April 21, 1945 in Curryville, Pike County, to be buried in Curryville.

JOHN
Although John wasn't a Kit Carson guy, he homesteaded in Cheyenne CCounty, Colorado, and is buried there 1863-1947 # 80065736.


GEORGE
In 1910 Kit Carson County, on the same page as James and Nancy, George Lohse is 40, farming, born in Iowa, single.

George Albert Lohse married Mrs. Ella E. Dowd on June 14, 1911, recorded in Kit Carson County.
(Ella was 27 in 1910 Kit Carson County, married to John Dowd, 32, with Minnie 8, Clara 6, and Chauncey 3.., all three kids born in Kansas.
In 1920 Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, John Dowd is 44, now married to Minnie 46 born in Iowa. The three kids are with him.
John, a laborer, Minnie a cook for a private home, and Chancy a laborer are in Pawnee, Kansas in 1930.

John and Minnie are alone in 1940 Hutchinson.

John 1876-1941 # 123476481 and Minnie A. Dowd 1869-1953 are buried in Hutchinson, # 123476425.

Chauncey Otto Dowd - 1906-1957 is buried in Marshall County, Kansas.
"Chauncey Otto Dowd, the son of John Francis and Ella Dowd was born August 3, 1906 at Atwood, Kansas. Most of his life was spent at Hutchinson. He married Mary Jane Craig in Kimball, Nebraska and they made their home in Hutchinson, Kansas. "


Clara M. Dowd Zuercher, born about 1904, died January 15, 1989 in Kansas (Wichita Eagle) FindaGrave # 106612711 has "Clara D. Zuercher".
