Samuel B. Hess, William A. Hess, Arthur Hess  , 7S 43W
 


In 1850 Coshocton County, Ohio, James Young 51 and Rachel 49, have Absalom 20, Hamilton 18, Mary 22, Elizabeth 14, Mariano 12, Rachel 10, and Ruth 8.

Mrs. Ruth L. Tyler married Samuel Hess in Adams County, Illinois August 25, 1868.

William Sherman Hess was born July 10, 1879 at Warsaw, Illinois to Samuel Hess and Ruth L. Young.

In 1880 Hancock County, Illinois, Samuel Hess is farming, 42, born in Pennsylvania, Ruth 36 Ohio. Marcia is 13, Albert 10, Ida 8, Maggie 5, Edwin 3,and William one month>
In 1910 Caddo County, Oklahoma, Samuel is 73, running a grocery store. Ruth 69, has had eight kids, seven living. This is his first marriage, her second.

Albert is 40, Ralph S. adopted son 19, Pearl M. granddaughter 14, and grandson Samuel W. 11, all four born in Illinois.


Samuel claimed two quarters in 10 and 15, 7S 43W in 1916.


Samuel B. Hess 1838-1913 is buried in Anadarko, Oklahoma # 30273976, with Ruth Lola (Young) Hess 1842-1922 # 30462069.

WILLIAM
In 1900 Hancock County, William Hess is farming, 20, with Lizzy born Jan 1884 in Missouri married one yea. They have Esta Feb 1900 Illinois.
In 1910 Keokuk, Iowa, William is a laborer in a cereal works, 30, with Elizabeth 26, Esla 9, Carrie 7, Ruby 5, Hilmar 3 and Milton 1.


William claimed a quarter in 23, 7S 43W in 1912.
In 1920 Hancock County, William is farming, 39, with Lizzie 36, Ruby 15 Oklahoma, Wilma 13 Oklahoma, and Alvin 7 Missouri.

Carmo Hess, age 18, daughter of Wm. Hess and Lizzie Grimer, married Boyd Hill in Lee County Iowa in September 1920. Both wee from Warsaw, Illinois.

In 1930 Lee County, Boyd is a lathe operator, 33, with Carma C. 28 born in Oklahoma and R. B., 9.
In 1930 Lee County, Iowa, William S. is 50, Lizzie B. 46, wtih Alvin H. 17 and Dorothy 8.

W.M. and Lizzie are alone in 1940 Clark County, Missouri.

William Alosis Hess 1863-1943 is buried in Los Angeles County, # 12064368.



ARTHUR

In 1880 Henderson County, Illinois, Samuel Hess is 30, farming, with Jerusha 22, Mary 6, Arthur 8, and Harry six months.

This is another Samuel B. Hess, but even though his son went to Burlington, this Samuel probably never did.

Samuel Buel Hess, born about 1846, died in Moline, Illinois July 26, 1934, son of Watsen Hess and Sarah Morgan, spouse Elizabeth Snow.
He had married Jerusha Snow in Henderson County March 6, 1873.


In 1910 Kit Carson County, Arthur Hess is 32, Sarah 22, Roy 5, Harold 3. Ida Newtman 3 is a boarder.
Ida is probably Alpha Hess Newtman's daughter, Arthur's niece.

In 1912 Burlington schools, Roy Hess was one of four pupils in the beginners class.

In August 1911, Arthur Hess was one of the witnesses for the land claim of William E. Frost.
In 1920 Burlington pecinct, Arthur Hess is 41, Sarah 32, oy 15, Harold 12, Alpha 8, Samuel 5, and Glenn 1.

In 1930 Moline, Illinois, Samuel is widowed, 64 or 69, with son Arthur Tank Hess 52, and Sarah Tank 42. Lawrence Tank is 15, Glen Hess is 12, Helen Hess is 9, and Eugene Hess is 6.
