September 3, 1919 Humeston, Iowa
"Mrs. V. Dutton, a resident of Corydon during the past forty-one years, died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Will Moore, in this city, last Thursday, August 21, 1919, at the age of 61 years,
10 months and 15 days. She had not been in good health for years, but had been confined to her bed
but a few days. The funeral services were held at the Moore home last Friday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. W. A. Morgan, pastor of the M. E. church, and interment made in the
Corydon cemetery. Deceased was a lady held in very high esteem by her large number of friends
and neighbors, and her death cast a shadow of sorrow over the community.
Katherine Wahl was born in Mahaska County, Iowa. October 6, 1857. Until her marriage that community remained her home. She married Verrie Dutton in January 1876, and with her husband came to Wayne County,
where she spent the remainder of her life. To their home there came three daughters,
all of whom survive their parents. They are Mrs. Maud Hart of Cambria,
Mrs. Jessie Moore and Mrs. Edith Selby of Corydon. There are four grandchildren.
Besides her children and grandchildren there are seven living sisters and two brothers;
three sisters and one brother having preceded her in death. Her husband died June 17, 1915."

She married W.C. Selby in Wayne County on February 21, 1905.
