From the Baker Book "Rachel's father was Martin Sewell. After her mother died, she was raised by her grandparents, David and Rachel Sewell. Baby Rachel grew up, married and settled in Kansas. After her husband, Wm. C. Van Winkle, died, she moved to Burlington, CO. She later remarried, John Evans and settled in Nebraska. "
Willis Baker 1815-1864 and Letitia (Sewell) Baker 1824-1915 had a brother Martin Sewell, Martin's wife died, and David and Rachel Sewell raised Rachel.

Tullie Van Winkle married George W Bevelheimer in Gosper County, between 1891-1907, page 38, and then Georege W. Bevelhimer married Rena Paine, page 252.
(George died in Chicago in 1901 "Rena May Paine married George W. Bevelhimer (not Charles) on 3 April, 1898.
Rena was his fourth wife, he married first Tully Van Winkle, second Nettie Stump and third a Ms. Pettijohn, there were two children from that marriage, Hugh and a child who died in infancy. ")

David is a railroad section foreman in Brush, Colorado, in 1900, 33, married to Annie 30, with Eunece 7.
In 1910 Cheyenne County, Nebraska, Dave, a pool hall operator, is 44, Anna 38, Eunice 16, and Bernice 1.
In 1920 he's a tire vulcanizer in Weld County, Colorado 52, with Anna B. 49 and Bernice 11.
Annie is widowed in 1930 Routt County, Colorado, 59 with daughter Eunice Paxton 37, Wi;iam D. 42 and their two kids.
Eunice 1892-1971 and William Paxton are buried in Routt County # 58244399.

MIRANDA

Miles Vanwinkle, age 27, married M. R. Young on October 28, 1881 in Wapello County, Iowa. He was the son of Alexander VanWinkle and Juliana Henry.
M.R. Young, born about 1858, was the daughter of Charles Young and Eva Bower.
One Ancestry tree says her parents died in the 1860's in Iowa.
Alexander Van Winkle 1819-1893 is buried in Wapello County, # 58736336, with Juliana 1816-1897.

In 1900 Cope precinct, then in Arapahoe County, Colorado, Miranda, born February 1859, married 18 years to Miles VanWinkel born Sept 1856. They have Grace 17, Daisy 15, Hattie 10, Ethel 5, and Howard ten months.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, "Belle" is 51, Ethel 15, Howard 10, and Ralph J. 8.

Miranda Van Winkle claimed a tract in 4 and 5, 6S 47W in 1917.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, Miranda is 60 widowed, born in Iowa, with Ethel 25 and Howard 20 both born in Colorado.

Henry Miles VanWinkle 1856-1933 is buried in File, Idaho #19598061.

Miranda 1859-1936 is buried in Lewis, Montezuma County, Colorado # 89768549.

Daisy Belle Van Winkle married John F. Nesbit on May 16, 1924 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Hattie Van Winkle, born about 1890 in Colorado, is a cook in 1910 Omaha, single, boarding with the Mayes couple.

John Ralph "Rip" Van Winkle 1902-1964 is buried in Carlsbad, New Mexico # 68264911.

Funeral services for John R. (Rip) Van Winkle, victim of a gunshot wound in his chest Monday night, are pending.
An arraignment of Joe S. Edgar on a charge of murder in the death was scheduled today.
Van Winkle, 62, was born Jan. 5, 1902 in Kirt (SHOULD BE KIRK), Colo., and began work as a miner when he was 19.
Survivors are his wife, at 2504 W. Lea St.; two sons, Roy J. Van Winkle, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ralph Van Winkle, home on leave from the Navy; a daughter, Lucille Blankenship, Banning, Ga.; one brother, Howard Van Winkle of Oregon; four sisters, Mrs. Grace Booker, Bondurant, Wyo., Mrs. Daisy Nesbith, Boise, Ida., Mrs. Hattie Currie, Bellflower, Calif., and Miss Ethel Van Winkle, Denver; and six grandchildren.
