In 1870 , Wright Hawthorn is farming, 29, Ellen 36 keeping house, Norman is 4, Nellie 1
Next household is Edward Hawthorn, also farming, 24, born in New York, with Rebecca 28 and Emily 1. (Edward P. Hawthorn 1840-1902 is buried in Minneapolis, # 135064139- so is Rebecca G. 1843-1919, # 135064144

In 1879, a small steamer, the May Queen, was landing a party of excusionists on Lake Minnetonka, and was stopping at the landing on Rockwell's island, about eleven miles from Wayzata. The boiler of the boat blew up, killing four persons. On the boat were D. M. Hawthorne, wife and three-year-old child of Minneapolis, and Wright Hawthorne, wife and two children 12 and 14 years oold, also of Minneapolis. They escaped unhurt, and at once went to work to rescue their less fortunate companions. They waded back and forth from the scene of the explosion to the shore, and finally succeeded in rescuing all who were on board; not, however, without great difficulty.
In 1880 Minneapolis, Minnesota, Wright P. Hawthorne is a flour manufacturer, 45, born in Minnesota??, with Ellen 36, Minnesota, William 14 and Ellen 11.
In 1885 Hennepin County, Minnesota, W. P. Hawthorne is 48, E.M. 39, both born in New York, W. N. 19 and Ellen 15 are born in Minnesota.
Wright is also in the 1885 census of Hamilton County, Nebraska, 47, with Ellen 40, William 19, and Ellen 15.

Wright cash-claimed a quarter in 11, 7S 42W in 1891.
Wright 1835-1890 is buried in Beaver Valley, Kit Carson County, # 55649820. "CPL, CO H, 19 REGT, ILL INF
"Mr. Hawthorne was the second person to pass away and was buried near the Rook claims.. In a diary, a neighbor wrote that his wife and daughter came to her and they all made paper frowers for Mr. Hawthorne's casket.

William proved up a quarter in 11, 7S 42W in 1894.

On August 16, 1898, Ellen Hawthorn applied for a widow's pension for Wright's service in H. 19th Illinois Infantry, from Kansas.
In 1900 Hamilton County, Ellen , born January 1845 in New York, widowed, with daughter Ellen Weimer born July 1869 in Minnesota (married but no spouse, does weaving), Ellen May 1889 Colorado, John J. July 1890 Colorado, and Ruth E. Sept 1893 Nebraska.
Ellen 1845-1906 is buried in Hamilton County # 82077216.

In 1900 Hamilton County, Nebraska, William is farming, born April 1866 in Minnesota, married three years to Jennie M. Dec 1866 Michigan. Wright C. was born June 1898 in Nebraska.
Jennie M. Hawthorne, daughter of Adonijah and Clara Chapman, is buried in Hamilton County 1866-1905, # 82076041.
In 1910 Hamilton County, William is 43, married (second marriage for both) three years to Jesse 43, Connecticut, with Wright C. 11 and Nesbit C. 8., both born in Nebraska.
William, Jessie, and "Nesbert" are in Hamilton County in 1920, farming.
William, Jesse, (both 63) and Wright 31 are farming in Kiowa County, Colorado in 1930.
William Norman Hawthorn 1866-1933 is buried in Kiowa County, # 48548721.

Wright Chapman Hawthorn registered for WWI in Phillips, Nebraska, farming for Frank Purdy. He was born June 1, 1898.

In 1920, Wright C. Hawthorne, 21 is farming in Kit Carson County, living alone.

Wright C. Hawthorne 1898-1978 is buried in Cheyenne Wells # 78237360.

John Jacob Weimer was born July 12, 1890 in Kit Carson County to George J. Weimer and Ellen Hawthorne.
He registered for WWI in Reddick, Illinois, born at Kanorado, Kansas, and was farming for George J. Weimer.
In 1910 Kankakee County, Illinois, George 51, Ellen 40, Mary 21, John 19, and Ruth 17 are farming.
"Lee" Weimer, son-in-law of Hawthorne, was an early resident in Kit Carson County.
George proved up a quarter in 10, 7S 42W in 1892.
He must have temporarily gone back to Kankakee County in 1900 - born Feb 1858 in Illinois, married but no spouse (Ellen is in Nebraska) , Jake Jr. is single born in 1862, Mary 1864, and widowed father Jake botn 1826 in Germany.

In 1920 Kankakee County, Illinois, George 60, Ellen 50, John 30, and Ruth 27. are farming.
Mary Weimer died April 25, 1922 in Kankakee COunty.
George is widowed in 1930 Kankakee County, 71, with Ruth 35.
George John Weimer died Sept 30, 1933 in Kankakee County.

Nesbert is in Box Butte County, Nebraska in 1930, married to Anna, with Janene and Larry. In 1940 all four are in Blaine County, Nebraska.
Javene was born in Colorado, Larry in Nebraska.
Nesbert C. Hawthorne, born Sept 1, 1901, is listed in the Blanine County obituary collection.
So is Anna L. (Sundermier) Hawthorne, born Nov 6, 1903.

Larry E. Hawthorne, 74, of Bridgeport, Neb., died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Heritage Health Care in Bridgeport. He was born March 20, 1928, to Nesbert and Anna (Sundermier) Hawthorne in Doniphan, Neb.
He graduated from Dunning High School in 1947. He married to Wilma Crone on Jan. 30, 1947, in Dunning. He worked for the CB&Q Railroad starting during summer vacations while he was in high school. He continued with the railroad until retiring from the BN in the early 80s. While working for the railroad, he lived in Dunning; Alliance; Casper, Wyo.; and Bridgeport.
He is survived by his children; Gale Hawthorne of Littleton, Colo.; Clay and Donna Hawthorne of Casper, Wyo.; and Bev and Lynn Berry of Alliance; his grandchildren, Shauna and Randy Abbott of Gering; Denise and Matt Bauer of Alliance; and Nick Hawthorne of Casper, Wyo.; great grandchildren; Whisper and Cole Connor of Alliance and Austin and Dontae Abbott of Gering.
He is also survived by four brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law and their families. He had 53 nieces and nephews along with many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, his parents and his one sister, Javene Collier. -------------------------------------------------
Javene Genive Collier 1921-1963 buried in Urbana, Missouri is # 91187672. She was born November 12, 1921 at Seibert Colorado to Nesbert C. Hawthorne and Anna L. SUndemeier, and died January 31, 1963 in Springfield, Missouri.
Husband was Sylvian Collier of Urbana, Missouri.



Cecil Merl Hawthorne, 77, of Almeria, Nebraska died April 7, 2006, at Jennie Melham Memorial Hospital in Broken Bow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Taylor Methodist Church, with military rites at the Taylor Cemetery. Mr. Hawthorne was born Oct. 3, 1928, at Cheyenne Wells, Colo., to Cecil and Esther Hawthorne. Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and George Rudnicki, Camille and Tim Andreas, all of California; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Suzan Hawthorne of Virginia and Brad and Joanna Hawthorne of Arizona; and two sisters, Joyce and Sharon.
