Lifelong Ponca City resident, Bob Loan Guinn, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to everyone fortunate enough to meet him, lived a blessed, Christian life for 90 plus years. He left this earthly domain after a short battle with cancer to enter the heavenly kingdom that awaited him on Saturday, July 5, 2014. As he was in life, Dad will forever remain the rock of our family until the day he eagerly greets each of us again, and he’ll no doubt have a whole new array of stories, remembrances and recollections that we will never grow tired of hearing. Bob Guinn was born east of Ponca City on December 15, 1923 the second son to the late Shelby and Millie Kennett Guinn, and the grandson of Benjamin and Maggie Guinn, original homesteaders of the 1893 Cherokee Strip Land Run. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers James, Don, and Rex and his sister Jean Bruce. Naomi Jean Bruce, Ponca City resident, past away Monday, October 24, 2005 at her home in Ponca City, OK. She was 70. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at the Sunset Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Ledbetter, pastor of Sunset Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Longwood Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. Jean was born on February 18, 1935, to Shelby L. Guinn and Millie Nee (Kennett) Guinn in Ponca City, OK. She graduated Ponca City High School in 1953 and started training for Western Union. During her employment for Western Union she married George P. Bruce on February 17, 1956 in Enid, OK. After several more years of working for Western Union Jean worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Pinkerton. Later in Jean’s life she drove buses for the Kildare school system and the Ponca City School System. Jean enjoyed camping, fishing, and socializing with her friends, but most of all she loved to be with her family . She is survived by her husband George Bruce of the home; one son Gary Bruce and wife Anita of Shawnee, OK; two grandchildren Heath Lawson and Kati Lawson; and two brothers Bob Guinn and wife Shirley of Ponca City, OK and twin brother Rex Guinn and wife Evelyn of Ponca City, OK and numerous friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers James B. Guinn and Don R. Guinn. |
