Harold J. and Stella T. (Gardner) Jenkins , 6 South 50 West
Addelaid E. Stanton was born in Pennsylvania March 14, 1894. At two years of age she with her parents, her brothers and sisters moved to Michigan near the city of Battle Creek. She grew to womanhood in this community and on December 10, 1872 she was married to Turner Gardner, who preceded her in death by nine years, having passed away October 27, 1913. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Gardner seven children, all of whom survive the mother; Mrs. R.S. Gibson of St. Paul, Nebr.; Mrs. T.S. Shrik of Niami, New Mexico; Mrs. H. J. Jenkins of Flagler, Colo.; Ray A. Gardner of New York City; Mrs. Ada Urwin and Mrs. F.A. Adamson of Creighton. There is also a stepdaughter, Mrs. Anna Tatro of Castalice, Iowa. A stepson, Corwin T. Gardner died in 1912. She has several grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends, who will miss her from Grandma's Corner. Mrs. Gardner was a true mother and a friend as well, always ready to extend a helping hand to the needy, while busy with the cares of her own family. She was a member of the Methodist church, retaining the Christian faith to the last moments of her life. After an illness of many weeks, her soul went out to the great Redeemer on the morning of July 17, 1922 at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 3 days. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Creighton at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, July 19, 1922, conducted by Rev. Farner, the pastor. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery beside the husband. We extend condolence to the bereaved. |
