Originally living in a sod house until the two-story stone house was built around 1914.
In 1933 son Harvey and wife Iona joined his parents on the ranch, had six children and purchased the home place in 1940.
The ranch currently owned by Robert and Phyllis Wood, Stratton, was recognized for being in operation by the same family for 100 years or more at the centennial Farms celebration at the Colorado State Fair. Pictured left to right is John Stulp, Colorado Ag Commissioner, Edward C. Nichols, president of the Colorado Historical Society, current owner of the farm, Robert Wood, his brother Bud and Bill Ritter Jr., governor of Colorado.

One of the children, Robert, continued to live on the ranch and cared for his mother after Harvey passed away.
Robert purchased the land in 1993 where he and wife Phyllis raise horses, grow alfalfa and lease out pasture land.
The original house, 1916 barn and various outbuildings continue to be utilized in the operations, while the W- upside down 4 brand is still registered to the ranch.
