Peter and Cornella Van Der Zouwen , 6 South 49 West


Peter Vanderzonwen and Cornelia Idsinga had Adrianza on June 8, 189 in Bergen County, New Jersey.

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Peter is farming 49, Cornelia 43, Etta 14, Cornelius 12, Jennie 10, Pauline 7, and Agnes 4, all kids born in New Jersey.

Peter claimed two quarters in 13, 6S 49W in 1914.

In 1920 Kit Carson County, Peter is 58, born in Holland, immigrating in 1887, with Cornelia 50 immigrating in 1892. Pauline 17 and Agnes J. 14 were born in New Jersey.

In 1930 Kit Carson County, Cornella is widowed, living with Charles 35 and Pauline 26 O'Nelill and their kids Richard 7, Caroline 5, Betty 4, and Marrjorie 2. They're next to the Charles VanDerKooi family.

Cornelia - widow of Peter - is at 1835 S. Emerson in 1934.
In 1936 Denver, Cornelia E. (wid Peter) is living at 1920 S. Washington.
In 1940 Washington County, Omer and Jennie have Elaine 14 and nephew Orin 5. Jennie's mother Cornelia 73, widowed is with them. Cornelia was in Denver in 1935.



Peter Vanderzouwen 1861-1929 and Cornella 1866-1941 are buried in Kit Carson County.

JENNIE

Jennie was born June 7, 1899 in Garfield, New Jersey, dying November 15, 1987 as Jennie Thorson.

Jennie VanDerZouwen married Omar Thorson on November 19, 1919, recorded in Kit Carson County.

In 1920 Washington County, Colorado, Omar is 27, Jennie 20, farming.

They're still there in 1930, with Elaine 4.

In 1940 Washington County, Omer and Jennie have Elaine 14 and nephew Orin 5. Jennie's mother Cornelia 73, widowed is with them. COrnelia was in Denver in 1935.

Omer 1892-1976 # 110876048 and Jennie 1899-1987 are buried in Longmont.
Orin K. Thorson is also buried in Longmont # 121692044.
"Orin K. Thorson, 79, of Longmont, passed away at his home September 18, 2013.
He was born August 12, 1934 in Cope, Colorado to Simon and Florence (Seaman) Thorson. Orin moved to Longmont in 1950 from the Cope, Colorado area. He married Betty Jo Miller on June 5, 1955 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Orin was a carpenter and woodworker. Orin was of the Lutheran faith, a member of Colorado Columbine RV Club. An avid hunter, he enjoyed fishing and loved woodworking, traveling in the RV and wintering in Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Leon and Leslie and great granddaughter, Courtney.
Orin is survived by his wife, a son, three daughters, a brother, a sister, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

ETTA

Etta C. Vanderzowen, 20, married Horatio G. Challis in Burlington on March 27, 1916.

Gail Horation Challis, with a Cope, Colorado address, is farming, with a wife and one child, born October 5, 1891 at Westmoreland, Kansas.

In 1920 Washington County, Colorado, Etta Pearl Challis is 24, married to Gail Challis 29. They have Riddell 3 and Wanda 1, both born in Colorado.

In 1930 Logan County, Kansas, Gale is 37, Etta 34, Riddell G. 13, Wanda V. 11, June A. 9, Stanley D. 8, and Evelyn M. 6.
In 1940 Logan County, Gail is 48, Etta 44, June 19, Stanley D. 18, Evelyn 16, Rodell 23, and his wife Waneta 21.

1953 Yuma Pioneer "Mr. and Mrs. Marion Higgason accompanied Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Challis to Russel Springs, Kansas to visit a brother of the Challis. They were all neighbors and lived with in one-half mile of one another in the Cope community 30 years ago. It was a grand reunion."

This is Leonard Challis, who was a realtor in Akron, Colorado. He's buried in Akron 1886-1967 # 70816487, with Jessie H. 1892-1975.


Etta 1896-2000 is buried in Oakley Cemetery, Thomas County Kansas # 37542854.
So is Gail Challis 1891-1963 # 37542842.

Stanley Dale Challis, 75, Long Beach, died Monday, May 19,1997, at Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Dr. Challis was born Dec. 29, 1921, at Cope, Colorado, and was a resident of Long Beach since 1945. He was a former resident of Russell Springs, Kan. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a dentist. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Long Beach; his mother, Etta Challis of Oakley, Kan.; and two sisters, Evelyn Trutanich of San Pedro and Wanda Gochenour of Cheyenne, Wyo. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Oakley Cemetery, Pastor Bob Kelly officiating with military rites.

Wanda married Raymond Wycoff.
Wiletta (Billie) June Miller, 66, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 24, 2011. Billie was born January 3, 1945 to Wanda and Raymond Wycoff in Oakley, Kan. She lived in Kansas until 1980 where she was an energetic mother to three sons and one daughter. Her absolute passion was her family, all of whom she leaves with an indelible impression of her love and caring.
Billie is survived by many loved ones and friends, including: mother, Wanda Wycoff Gochenour, Cheyenne, Wyo.; husband, Sonny Miller, Fort Collins, Colo.; three sons, Torry R. Kersenbrock (Shannon) and granddaughters, Tess and Abbey; Shawn A. Kersenbrock (Lani) and granddaughters, Hannilyn & Sophia; Joshua Miller of Fort Collins, Colo. and step-son, Christopher Miller, Crystal Lake, Ill.; son-in-law, Eric Broyles, Arvada, Colo., and granddaughters Amanda Carly Broyles, Rolla, Mo., and Malea June Broyles, Arvada, Colo.; siblings, Raymond A. Wycoff, Cheyenne, Wyo., Ellen Thomas, Cheyenne, Wyo., Dina Dinkel (Larry), Oakley Kan., and Bonnie Tobin, Colchester, Vt.; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

Gail (Riddell) Challis married Arietta Pearl Beckley in Oklahoma County on April 13, 1942.
He was in the Army from June 23, 1945 to May 24, 1946.
In 1953 Wichita, Gail (Arietta P.) live at 3925 E. Pawnee. He works for Boeing.

In 1963 "An igloo-like device is a mockup of a section of a Saturn V booster—one phase of the NASA space program. It was put together at the Wichita Boeing plant. This is an end section for the fuel tank of the first booster stage of the Saturn V. Four such sections are needed. When construction of the booster actually gets underway, the aluminum-alloy sections forming the bulkhead will be made in Wichita. On the elevated platform are Gail Challis, left, Boeing Saturn assistant manager at Wichita, and Jack Stein, Wichita Saturn booster section manager."

Gail (Riddell) Challis 1916-1981 is buried in Wichita, Kansas # 61485399. Arietta Pearl Challis 1915-1955 # 94339743 is also buried in Wichita, but in another cemetery.

Her parents Daniel John Beckley and Minnie Belle Blandy married in 1905 in Allen County, Kansas.
In 1930 "Dave" Beckley is in Wichita, 45, widowed, with Jessie 17. Daughter Arietta 16 is married to Robert Wheeler 21 of Texas.
One tree said Robert Wheeler died in 1939,
Dan J. Beckley 1880-1964 is buried in Yates Center, Kansas # 59169595. So is Mary Belle 'Minnie' Beckley 1887-1929 # 59169682.


PAULINE

Pauline was born November 16, 1902 in Belmont, New Jersey.

Pauline M. O'Neill 1902-2003 is buried in Seibert, # 35935079, wtih Charlie T. O'Neill 1895-1988.

AGNES

Adriana Vanderzonwen was born June 8, 1898 in Bergen County.
In 1933-1936 Denver, Agnes Vanderzouwen is a maid, living at 191 Race.
