Fred "Landan" 27 and Alice 20 are in Logan County, Illinois in 1880, with Grace six months old.

1897 Macon County, Missouri "Calvin Landau visited Robert Windle."

In 1900 Macon County, Missouri, Frederick Landau is 47, born in New York, with Allie A. 39 in Illinois, Ezra 17, Calvin born Sept 1885, "Orfice M." 10, and Dewey M. 1, all kids born in Missouri.

Fred Landau is in Kit Carson County in 1910, 56, Alice 50, with Orpheus B. 20 and Dewey L. 11.

Frederick Landau claimed two quarter is sections 21 and 22, 6S 50W in 1913.

Fred is in Lafayette, Colorado in 1920, 67, with Alice A. 60, Dewey L. 21, and Maria E. Wilson 79.

Fred and Alice Landau are in Byers, Colorado in 1930, living alone.

Fredrick Landau 1854-1939 is buried in Flagler # 13985053. So is Alice 1859-1943 # 13985039.


CALVIN'S WIFE VIOLA'S FAMILY

In 1910 Seibert precinct, Kit Carson County, William Gourd is farming, 47, born in England. He's been married sixteen years (his second marriage) to Elba 33 Iowa. Byron 15, Mable 14, Blanche 10, Theron 7, and Ethel 4 were born in Iowa. They're on the same page as Frederick Landau's and Calvin Landau's households.

William Gourd proved up two quarters in 22 and 23, 6S 50W in 1914.

Byron Gourd married Ethel R. Clair on December 14, 1914 in Kit Carson County, and they're back in Union County Iowa in 1920.

In 1920 William and "Florence E." are back in Adams County, Iowa, with Theron 16 and Ethel 13.

Ida Blanch Gourd, 15, married Jasper Minion Clair in Corning Iowa on October 1, 1914.
They're in Adams County, Iowa in 1920, and in 1930 are in Lafayette Colorado. Jasper is 37, Blanche 30. Victor 15 and Arthur 13 were born in Colorado, Raymond i10 in Iowa.

Victor was born January 28, 1915 in Tuttle Colorado, dying September 4, 1988.
He's buried in Longmont # 60878954, with Mary Katherine Clair 1919-2006.

Viola's father "William Gourd was born in Cornwall County, England, March 10, 1861 and died at his home in Prescott, January 17, 1929, at the age of 67 years, 10 months, and 7 days. He was baptized in the Church of England when a small child He came with his parents, William and Mary Ann Courd to America in 1867 and settled in Pennsylvania, later moving to Illinois in 1871. From there he moved to Adams County, Iowa where the remainder of his life was spent with the exception of five years in Colorado. In 1894 he was united in marriage to Florence Elba Dagger.
He is survived by his widow and six children, Mrs. L. E. Casey of Greenland, Arkansas, Bryon of Destinies, Iowa, Mrs. C. W. "Landay" and Mrs. J. N. Clair of Lafayette, Colorado, Theron of Corning, and Ethel who is at home. Also ten grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. T. W. Haviland of Corning, and two brothers, Richard of Corning and Matthew of Greenland, Arkansas."
William is buried in Corning, Iowa # 41350741.

Viola's mother "Florence Elba Daggett, daughter of Clark and Lucy Daggett, was born near Corning, Iowa on December 6, 1876 and passed away at the Rosary Hospital, November 22, 1957 at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 16 days. On February 6, 1895, she was united in marriage to William Gourd, who preceded her in death, January 17, 1929. Their entire married life was spent in Adams County with the exception of five years on a homestead in Colorado.
To this union five children were born. One son, Theron, passed away at Idledale, Colorado in 1942. She is survived by one son, Byron Gourd of Des Moines, 3 daughters, Mabel Landau and Blanche Clair of Longmont, Colorado, and Ethel Stillinger of Brooks. Also one Step daughter, Mrs. Edna Casey of West Fork, Arkansas. She is also survived by one sister, Perl Johnson of Corning, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Gourd lived in Prescott for 31 years and has retained her membership to the Methodist Church there. She moved to Brooks in 1950 to be near her daughter. She spent her life in service for others. For many years she helped care for the sick in Prescott and was always on hand to help all of her family. Her most outstanding virtue was her love for children and especially her many grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Boyd Roland Company Funeral Home, Sunday, November 24, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Joe Cook. Mrs. Blanche Lund was vocalist accompanied by Mrs. Kathleen Cook. Pall bearers were her grandsons, Weldon Gourd, Gene Gourd, Orville Gourd, Clyde Landau, Ray Clair, and Max Stillinger.

CALVIN

In 1910 Kit Carson County, Calvin is farming, 24, and his grandparents Daniel M. Wilson 73 and Marian E. 68, both born in Ohio, are with him.
Calvin claimed two quarters in 30, 6S 49W in 1913.

Calvin W. Landau, 28, married Mable V. Gourd on June 18, 1913 in Kit Carson County.

1917 Corning Iowa "Mrs. C. W. Landau, from near Denver, Colo., arrived in Corning Monday to visit relatives for a time. Mrs. Landau is a daughter of Wm. Gourd, and will be remembered as Miss Mabel Gourd. She came at this time on account of the illness of her brother, Theron Gourd, who has pneumonia."

1919 Corning "Mrs. Claire Stratton, of Stratton, Colo., and Mrs. C. W. Landau, of Lafayette, Colo., are expected in this vicinity to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gourd, and other relatives. A family reunion will be enjoyed at the Gourd home."

In 1920 Lafayette, Colorado, Calvin is a railroad switchman, 34, born in Missouri, with Mabel V. 23 Iowa. Florence G. 4 and Clyde L. 1 were born in Iowa. Next door is Fred Landau 57 and Alice 61, with their son Daryl 21 born in Missouri.

1927 Lafayette "Robert Johnson was elected mayor here today in an exceptionally quiet election. Only 195 votes were cast out of a registration of 600. Dan F. Earns, George H. Faulkener and Calvin Landau were elected trustees."

In 1930 Lafayette, Calvin is a railroad conductor, with Viola, Florence, and Clyde.

1930 Corning "On Wednesday of last week Mr. and Mrs. Roy Richardson entertained a number of young people to dinner in honor of Miss Florence Landau of Lafayette. Colorado. In the afternoon games of various kinds were stayed and one that was really enjoyed most was a girls' base ball game."

In 1940 Lafayette, Calvin is farming, 55, Viola 45 a cafe waitress, with Clyde a clerk in a grocery store.

Calvin Wilson Landeau registered for WWII in Lyons Colorado, born Sept 19, 1885 at Hemple, Misouri.
He's buried in Longmont 1885-1959 # 33288397.

1948 Corning Iowa "Mable Landau of Lyons Colorado and sons are visiting her mother Mrs. Elba Gourd and other relatives. Sunday Mrs. Gourd, Mable and Don Gourd went to Des Moines where they visited in the Byron Gourd home."

1956 Corning Iowa "On Wednesday, March 21, Mable Landau received a telegram telling of the death of her friend, Ed Me- Col °- Mr - v n , ' - - «- Ivan Stillinger.
Mrs. Elba Gourd and Mrs. Landau left immediately for Colorado, where they attended the funeral on Friday and returned home Sunday. Mrs. Clair of Longmont, Colo., who is another sister of Mrs. Stillinger, accompanied them home. She and Mrs. Landau will return to Colorado after."

1961 Corning "Mrs. Mable Landau and Mr. and Mrs Ivan Stillinger enjoyed having supper Thursday evening with Mrs Pearl Johnson and the Tom Reed family in Corning.

1965 "A reception for Mr. and Mrs. Max Stillinger was held at the Ivan Stillinger home Saturday evening. Those present were the Larry Martz family of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Joye Heatherington of Prescott, Mrs, Mabel Landau and Mrs. Clyde Landau from Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Lovig and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Murdock, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Murdoch Mr. and Mrs. Bi11 Walter and son, the Clyde, Fred and Ernie Stillinger families, June Mitchell and the honored guests, Mr. and Mrs. Max Stillinger,"

Mabel B. Landau, born May 15, 1904, died in Los Angeles March 30, 1973.

DEWEY

Dewey Lynell Landau had registered for WWI in Seibert, Colorado, born August 25, 1898, farming for Fred Landan, nearest relative Allie Landau of Seibert.

December 5, 1959 San Bernardino, California "Calvin Frederick Landau Jr., five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin F. Landau Sr., 23813 E. Walker St., died Thursday of injuries sustained when struck by an automobile. He was a native of Spokane, Washington, and had resided in San Bernardino a year. Other survivors include a sister, Cathy, and a brother, Craig, at home, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Landau, of Strasburg, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. John Stugart Sr., Evans Colorado. The body will be forwarded to Aurora Colorado for interment.

Calvin is buried in Fort Logan 1954-1959 # 3356142, "son of S. Sgt C.F. Landau, Sr., USAF"

Margaret Stugart 1887-1962 is buried in Evans, Colorado "Mrs. Margaret Stugart, 1320 8th St., Evans, died Sunday morning. The wife of John Stugart, she moved to Evans from Loveland six years ago. She was born in Kimball, Neb. She was the mother of Albert Lepper, Mrs. Rosie Garcia, and Louie Hayes, all of California. She was the step-mother of Mrs Esther Foose, Greeley; Mrs Pauline Doherty, Aurora; Mrs Rose Carlson, Leveland; Reuben Stugart, Qulncy, Wash.; Edward Stugart, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Wilma Landau, Mrs. Helen Hergenreder, Mrs. Norma Anderson Mrs. Alma Sinclair. John, William and Kenneth Stugart, all of California. Four brothers also survive. They are Carl (Charlie) Kercher of Evans; George Kercher, Greeley; Pete Kercher, Loveland and Fred Kercher, Washington. Arrangements for the service will be made... ."


Gerald H. Landau 1929-1998 is buried in Byers, Colorado # 65917339 "GERALD H. LANDAU , 68, of Aurora died Jan. 24. Services were Jan. 28. Mr. Landau was born in Deer Trail on Oct. 8, 1929. He married Donna B. Hinkle, 1950. He was a chief master sergeant in the Air Force. He was a Shriner, a member of a Masonic Lodge, Royal Arch and the Aurora Board of Realtors. Survivors include his wife; brothers Charles of Aurora, Calvin of Oregon, Keith of Arkansas; sister Winefred R. Thiessen of Burlington. "


Dewey, age 22, married Clara V. Tevombly in Denver on August 18, 1920.

Clara V. 1901-1984 # 33288241, and Dewey 1898-1966 # 33288341 are on the same stone in Longmont.
They were in Elbert County, Colorado in 1940, with five kides.

On his mother's 78th birthday, February 16, 1964 Albert Thiessen married Ruby Landau. They went to California on their honeymoon to visit Ruby's brothers, Gerald and Calvin Landau's families.

Florence Geneva Swift was born August 19, 1915 in Corning Iowa, as Swifet in 1943, Viggers in 1951.
She's buried in Boulder # 95822982, with Venoit C. Viggers 1910-1971.

Venoit had married Della Louise English on June 5, 1937 in Pueblo County, Colorado.

ORPHUS

Orphus B. Landau married Mary Louise Scholes on May 18, 1915, recorded in Denver.
Mary was in Lafayette, Colorado in 1910, 17, with Edwin (Edmund) Scholes 49. Charles is 23, FLorence E. 19, Edna E. 15, Mabel G. 13, and Arthur J. 7.

Elizabeth Scholes 1859-1904 and Edmund 1860-1929 are buried in Lafayette # 13248441.

Orphus registered for WWI in Keenesburg Colorado, born Sept 6, 1889 at Kemple, Missouri, a telegraph operator for the C B & Q, married.

In 1930 San Diego, Orphus is a train dispatcher, 40, with Mary L. 37 born in Colorado.

Orphus and Mary are in San Diego in 1940, an assistant agent.

Orphus Bynum Landau, born Sept 6, 1889, died March 22, 1960 in San Diego County.
"Funeral services for Orphus Bynum Landau, 70, a retired railroad man, will be conducted today at the Chapel of Humphrey Chula Vista Mortuary with the Rev. Everett Sorensen, pastor of the Community Congregational Church officiating. " ilb 1 A native of Missou Landau was a Chula Vlstan 43 years. He died Monday at his home, 830' G St, and, leaves his wife, Mary. Landau retired last year after spending 39 years with the San Diego & Aruton. Eastern Railroad as a telegrapher, agent, cashier, and 'train dispatcher. He was a member of the Point Loma Masonic. Lodge 620 El Capitan . Chula Vista Mt. Miguel"

February 13, 1983 " Louise Landau, 90, a Chula Vista resident for 50 years, died Sunday at Friendship Manor convalescent home. She was a . Colorado native, and had been, a homemaker : for 40 years. She was a member of the Chula Vista Women's Club and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star in Colorado. Surviving are one brother, Arthur Scholes of Chula J Vista, two nieces and one nephew. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of the Roses, followed by entombment at Glen Abbey Mausoleum. The family suggests contributions be made to the Friendship Manor in National City."

1983 "A petition has been filed by: Arthur J. Scholes In the Superior Court of San Diego County .... that Arthur J Scholes be appointed representative to administer the estate of MARY LOUISE LANDAU."
