In 1900 Rooks County, Kansas, John is farming, born Feb 1864 in Bohemia, married 16 years to Anne Jan 1868, also born in Bohemia. Alvin 14, John 11, Anna 8, Rosa 4, Martha 2, and Frances five months were all born in Kansas.
John immigrated in 1880, Anna in 1882.
In 1905 Rooks County, John Vilharticky is 41, Anna 37, Albin 19, John 16, Anna 13, Rosie 10, MArtha B. 7 and Francis G. 5.
John and Anna are in Rooks County in 1910, with Rosa 15, Martha B. 12, Francis G. 10, Miles 4, and Libbie 2.
John proved up 169 acres in 20, 6 South, 48W in 1917.
John 1864-1947 is buried in Ash Rock # 8610712, with Anna Rosa (Dansa) VGelhjarticky 1867-1913.

In 1918-1920 the Colorado Dairy Commission listed J.T. Velharticky of Vona as a licensed cream station. The nearest creamery in Colorado was at Limon - but cream could have been sent east to Kansas...
November 1977 Salina, Kansas "The funeral for
John Velhart 83 Alma will be at 2 pm Tuesday at the Clark
funeral home Osborne the Rev Rodney Collins officiating.
Burial will be in the Ash Rock Cemetery, Woodston.
Mr. Velhart died Thursday at the Alma Manor nursing home.
He was born December 11, 1888 in Rooks county.
He was a longtime resident of the Alton area,
then lived in Aberdeen Miss. for several years before
moving to Alma.
He was a former railroad employee and farmer and had
operated a photography shop in Aberdeen.
Mr. Velhart was a member of the Christian Church.
Surviving are 2 sons; Raymond, Topeka and Larry,
Richmond, California; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ella Phoenix,
Sacramento California and Mrs. Hilda Wilson,
Richmond California, a brother Miles, Loveland Colorado,
4 sisters, Mrs. Georgia Agin and Mrs Martha Becky,
both of Salina, Mrs. Anna Bates in California
and Mrs. Libby Dodge, Grants Pass, Oregon;
8 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren."
MILES
September 17, 1995 " Miles Victor Velharticky, 89, Loveland, died Friday, Sept. 15, 1995,
at his home. Mr. Velharticky was born Sept. 26, 1905, at Crete, Nebraska,
and was a resident of Loveland since 1961, moving from Kensington, Kansas.
He was a farmer and owner-operator of a movie theater in Kensington. His wife, Edith L.,
died in 1994. Survivors include a sister, Libby Dodge of Rogue River, Oregon;
and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kibby-Fishburn Funeral Chapel, Loveland, Pastor Rick Holmlund officiating. Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park."
Miles # 31503897 and Edith (Sims) Velharticky 1910-1994 are buried in Loveland.
Esther Lucille (Sims) Tuxhorn, 87, of Loveland passed away surrounded by her family and loved ones on December 3, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center in Loveland.
She was born August 21, 1921 to William and Roma Sims in Stratton, Colorado.
She married Albert A. Tuxhorn on April 10, 1940 in Smith Center, Kansas, where they started their life together on a farm. She enjoyed working side-by-side with him in his various businesses. They moved to Loveland in 1959 and spent their winters in Arizona. She was especially proud of her family, who were the joy and focus of her life. Her strong Christian faith, which she passed on to her sons, showed through her caring for all around her.
Mrs. Tuxhorn is survived by her sons, Cletis Tuxhorn and wife Sandy of Mesa, AZ, Adren Tuxhorn and wife Oralia Patsy of Loveland, Ronnie Tuxhorn and wife Sally of Mesa, AZ; sister, June VanLoenen of Prairie View, KS; 8 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Roma Sims; husband, Albert Tuxhorn; brothers, Cecil Sims, Irwin "Shorty" Sims, Berton "Jack" Sims; and a sister, Edith Velharticky.
Visitation will be held Sunday at Resthaven Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens.
"Shorty" Sims, 58, Agra, Kansas, died Thursday at his house in Agra. Mr. Sims was born June 21,1926, in Burlington, Colorado. He was a store owner who had moved to Agra from Kensington in 1948. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kensington; the Agra Booster Club; Agra Fire Department; Town Council and the Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Thelma, of the home; a daughter, Elaine Mooney, Agra; three sisters, Edith Velharticky, Loveland, Colo.; Either Tuxhorn, Mesa, Ariz.; and June Van Loenen, Phillipsburg; a brother, Burton, Alton; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Olliff-Boeve Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, Pastor Dave Sites officiating. Burial will be in the Agra Cemetery.
LIBBIE
Libby Wilma Dodge, 98, of Rogue River died Friday, December 22, 2006, at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home, with Richard Kelso, pastor of Rogue Valley Community Church, officiating. Private burial will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
Libby was born February 7, 1908, in Woodston, Kansas, to John and Anna Velharticky. On September 18, 1943, in San Bernardino, California, she married Ralph Dodge, who died in 1993. They moved to Grants Pass in 1948 from Los Angeles. In 1991, they moved to Rogue River.
She was a member of Rogue Valley Community Church in Rogue River.
Survivors include four grandchildren.
Libbie is buried in Grants Pass # 90852482.
August 1995 Salina, Kansas
"Velharticky was a widow with two young sons when the war and rationing was It was hard to find and we only owned one pair of shoes she We polished them on Saturday Maxine remembers courtesy of the Smoky Hill Salina turned into a bustling city during the war years,
Velharticky said. Soldiers swarmed the city, which was home
to two military bases — Camp Phillips, which became a
prisoner-of-war camp, and Smoky Hill Army Airfield,
used to train fighter pilots. When the Army decided in 1942
to build the bases, Salina's population more than doubled
almost overnight. Civilians descended upon the city to
help build the camps, then soldiers poured in as well.
Velharticky worked at the PX at Camp Phillips on summer
vacation and remembers riding the bus every day to the
home she shared with her mother and her two young sons.
"There were soldiers all over town," she said. Velharticky
said many families routinely invited soldiers into their
homes for dinners and suppers"

Albin proved up two quarters in 17, 6S 48W in 1913.
In 1920 Kit Carson County, Albin said he was married, but no spouse listed. He's 33, farming alone.
He's single in Saline County, Kansas in 1930, a blacksmith.
Albin registered for WWII in Alton, Rooks County, born there March 1, 1886. His referencfe was Miles Velartickyy.
Albin 1886-1970 is buried in Ash Rock # 8610705.

Survivors are the widower, Albert, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Collins, Manhattan; 5 sons, Lawrence, Osborne; Ernest, Grain Valley, Mo.; Francis, Pueblo, Colo.; Glenn, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Gerald, Portis; 4 sisters, Mrs. Roy Agin, 1109 Osborne, and Mrs. George Beckey, 707 Highland, both of Salina; Mrs. Libby Dodge, Grant's Pass, Ore. and Mrs. Anna Bates, Odessa, Mo.; 2 brothers, John Velharticky, Aberdeen, Miss., and Miles Velharticky, Loveland, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Smith Center hospital. Friends may call at the funeral home.
