In 1900 Labette County, Kansas, Andrew Free is a grocer, 50, born in Pennsylvania, with Mary 48 Ohio. Flora 20 was born in Pennsylvania, Carl. 13, Clara J. 12, and John N. 6 in Kansas. Mary's mother Margaret Nobles 79 born in Scotland is with them.

In 1910 Labette County, Andrew and Mary have Carl L. 23, a laborer, Clary J. 22 and John 17.
Carl claimed a quarter in 28, 6S, 48W in 1917.
He registered for WWI with a Vona address, farming, single, working for Ludwig Runiger of Vona, born December 15, 1886 at Chetopa, Kansas.

In 1920 he's farming in Labette County, 33, with Sadie B. 25.
Sadie Beatrice Rogers was born January 28, 1895 in Labett County to Willis J. Rogers and Altona Truax, dying Sept 5, 1988.

1921 Parsons, Kansas "Mr. John Free returned to his home in Topeka Saturday morning, after several days visit here with his brother, Carl Free, and family."

In 1930 Ochiltree County, Texas, Carl is farming, 41, with Sadie R. 34, Chauncey L. 9 and Donald 7 born in Kansas.

They're back in Labette County in 1940, and Sadie's mother Amanda Rogers is with them
Altona (Truax) Rogers 1872-1942 is buried in Labette County # 76236066, with Willis J. Rogers 1866-1927 # 76236060.


Carl 1886-1976 is buried in Labette County, Kansas. # 93837766.
"Carl is the son of Andrew P and Mary (Noble) Free. He was a graduate of Chetopa high school and attended business college in Pittsburg. He lived with his family for a short while in Perryton, Texas; then homesteaded in Colorado. He returned to Chetopa before entering the Army in World War I. He served as an infantryman in France and Germany. After his military service, he returned to the Chetopa area and engaged in farming.
He married Sadie R. Rodgers on December 24, 1919.
He was a member of the Oswego United Methodist Church and of Bryant-Sykes VFW Post no. 3399 and a former member of the Modern Woodman Lodge.
He was survived by two sons, Don and C.L.; a half-sister, Harriet and 3 grandchildren. "
